Thank you for your response. when you said 'boot times are slightly shorter', do you mean it is 'longer' or 'shorter' to load up? I remembered reading somewhere that OS boot time is slightly delayed because the MP read pcie cards last in the booting sequence.

I put back the stock asus nvidia 8600, boot up with iBoot GE=Yes, booted into SL fine. whereas with the gt 640, i get a KP doing just the same thing. so most likely the gt 640 is causing the KP...... kate
