Gigabyte Z690 Aero G + i5-12600K + AMD RX 6800 XT

@CaseySJ I bit the bullet and got a Gigabyte Aero G Z690 DDR4 with a 12700K.

Benchmarks are Vision G Z490 10700K RX580 vs Aero G Z690 12700K RX6600

Geekbench 5 CPU scores - 57% increase

Single core: 1250 to 1967
Multi core: 9164 to 13392

Open CL - 46% increase

RX580: 44884
RX6600: 65636

Metal - 64% increase

RX580: 51415
RX6600: 84677
Congratulations! Those are very sizable improvements -- faster than Apple M1. :)

System will not shutdown if any Thunderbolt device is connected to a flashed GC-Titan Ridge. Thunderbolt devices will need to be disconnected before shutdown.

Does (flashed) GC-Alpine Ridge also have same problem?

Does the open core configuration instructions have to match the release? For instance, 0.8.1 uses the 0.7.8 configuration?

Also some of the settings are different than the instructions.

OpenCore's settings change frequently from month to month with each new release. This is one of the reasons its version number starts with zero. Because of these frequent changes, it is very time consuming to keep Post 1 up to date.

However, if you download the latest EFI folder from one of the mini-guides for this build, you can trust that it is set up correctly. And you can use HackinDROM to update it to newer versions.

It is also a good idea to see the OpenCore Differences.pdf that is included in the Docs section in GitHub, and in the Docs section of the downloaded package.

Maybe someone with Z690 Aero G and a flashed GC-Titan Ridge can tell us (a) which version of macOS they're running and (b) whether this shutdown problem still exists. I have not tested this in recent weeks so I'm not sure if this is still a problem.

@CaseySJ
1.GigabyteGC-Titan Ridge v2.0→Zikko Thunderbolt 3 Dock 8K UHD PD85W→Dell U2720Q flashed firmware(NO),no flashed firmware(YES).
2.GigabyteGC-Titan Ridge v2.0→Dell U2720Q(YES)
Unfortunately there's not much we can do about these limitations. Your choices are:
  • Try flashing NVM 33 and see if it helps
  • If original firmware works with Scenario 1, and you need Scenario 1, then consider staying with the original firmware

Thanks CaseySJ, I just want to make sure I'm getting everything right in my config file. I'm trying to install Monterey on Asus ProArt Z490 w/i9 10850.

@Jeson I used your EFI and my Aero D is booting but only the 2.5G Network port works not the 10G port. How can I get this working?

You could try and update your OC to the latest version. It will have ForceAquantiaEthernet option which should work for your card.

I think so. At present, only the original firmware can be used. At the same time, I also tested the firmware of NVM33, but I still can't cold start the machine to light up the display.

@CaseySJ @WeiSer

Here is another data point regarding the Gigabyte Z690 Aero G with the original GC-Titan Ridge card. It's flashed with version 23 firmware.

With a TB3 SSD drive enclosure plugged into the Titan Ridge card I have no problems with warm boot, cold boot, hot plugging or shutdown. I also just plugged in a WavLink TB3 hub and plugged in a USB thumb drive and an ethernet network cable and everything, including shutdown, worked.

I'm currently running Monterey 12.5 public Beta 2. However, the Titan Ridge card has performed well with all prior macOS versions I have used it with.

I flashed the GC-Titan Ridge with the version 23 firmware early during the development of the TB3 firmware. Since it worked well for me I never flashed the version 33 firmware. I use the 23 firmware on several other Titan Ridge cards in other builds without problems. I primarily use TB3 with external SSDs for backups.
