I am also having problems booting from the USB Installer with the newer EFI. I use my own SMBIOS settings for both MacBookPro 14,1 and 14,3. After the progress bar moves about a quarter of the way the screen goes black and progresses no further. I have the 1920x1080 display, not the 4K.
Well, you were able to go much further than me :)

I did also use my own SMBIOS (swapped it a few times to avoid user-error)

I'm already on macOS Big Sur using OC 0.6.7. Trying to upgrade to Monterey. But it requires the newer OC versions.

Well, don't ask me what I did diferently because I have no idea. Today was a new day, I re-build (for the 5th or 6th time) the BigSur Install media and to my surprise, worked right out.

I let it upgrade (did in-place from Catalina) thinking it will break everything up, but I don't care since I have a good backup that I tested before starting to play around. Again to my surprise everything worked flawlessly.

So I went ahead and prepared a Monterey USB, used this EFI and.... again, flawless upgrade.

I will tonight play around a bit with the EFI reviewing SSDTs and that stuff, and I might do a clean install (I'm being lazy so far) but this is looking good :)

Again, I did NOTHING different today. No idea what changed.

As I mentioned before, if you are currently using OpenCore or you are trying to, I would strongly suggest you modify your existing EFI or build a new one using mine as a guide, rather than an outright replace or paste.

There have been many under-the-hood changes in OpenCore since 0.6.7 that require config.plist changes and modifications. My EFI may not be the "best," but it's what works for me and several others. Also, ensure your UEFI is modified for the MSR lock or enable the quirk as mentioned. macOS will not boot without one or the other.

Thanks, yes. Actually your EFI was a GREAT start and I've only modified a few things that are specific to my build (I'm using a DELL docking station so for proper Ethernet and USB 3.0 speeds I had to play with SSDTs).

i *think* (strong maybe there) that my problem is that after unlocking MSR I did not shutdown my laptop and that caused some of the issues I had on Wednesday night. I was mentally going over on what did I make different and that was one of the only things I could think about that might have caused a different from what I did yesterday.

My in-place upgrade worked like a charm, but I just bit the bullet and did a full clean reinstall anyway afterwards to have a more clean environment. That clean install worked flawlessly as well and I'm iCloud connected and everything without issues typing from my hackintosh right now :)

I'm trying to build my efi, but is difficult for me
I believe I don't have the right tools ether, if you can share your efi, it will be a grade help

can you tell me a proper tool to build my EFI/CONFIG?

That's great to hear, glad it was helpful. I'd love to see your updated SSDT - I know many use docks, and I originally generated my USB SSDT ages ago before I had any Type-C or Thunderbolt docks, so there may be improvements.

If you can't boot with the original supplied but the OP here, there's something else going on.

What is your exact behavior you're getting? Do you see the Apple logo? do you see a progress bar (even empty)?
