Try UseKernelCache=no... after i installed the nvidia drivers m=i could only boot with my 970 when i used those flags.

I'm looking to buy a new graphics card for gaming with windows and Yosemite. I was thing i would get either the GTX 970 or the r9 290x. Are both these cards compatible with Yosemite? If so, is there any reason to consider one over the other amusing the same price point?
