RehabMan, thanks for all your patience and help - it's very much appreciated. I managed to fix the problem, I bought a USB-C to USB adapter and used the keyboard in this whilst giving the USB it's own port. It worked perfectly, must of had problems with power from powered adaptor. Thanks so much!

its not powered from a mains, just plugged directly in to laptop to allow an extra usb port. it recognizes the drives when windows loads up ok, but just want to make sure this wouldnt cause an issue

its usb 2.0, but its going through a usb adaptor port because i only have one port and need 2. could that make a difference?

i used a macbook air 11, mid 2012 to create the bootable usb. i downloaded the os from the app store on the macbook air

just an update, after changing the id like you said, it load past the verbose screen. however it was a blank screen with just a mouse cursor, after 40mins i realized it had crashed. It has got me a step further

hi, i have included the preboot.log and origin folder - the last time it was wrote to was 20mins before the verbose boot failed - so not sure if its outputted all of the log. ive also included 3 screenshots - in order, the last one is right before it goes off

i have attached the zip excluding themes folder, as stated in the f.a.q. i dont have any pictures but it said com.apple.xpc.launchd with some errors along with busy timeout 240s macbook air 6.2. i hope this provides more insight. thanks
