People buy their components work a system that was never meant to be work anyway. So moaning about something that doesn't work that was never originally manfactured to is a little stupid in my opinion.
If it works great you have a Mac for much less money but we should we glad that we can even...
I think people moan a bit too much,
my 480 has full 1080p QE/CI decently fast UI and barely any of this slight freezing.
I'm happy if a fix comes then good but I'm not gonna stop using it because of no solution.
Well it is upto Nvidia because they can write the drivers today if they really wanted it's just;
Nvidia aren't gonna turn round to apple, "Oh here's new drivers for the 4xx cards"
They'll just say the only users with those don't have proper Mac's therefore we aren't interested.
It's half and...
I think we've got the face the reality is that we aren't ever going to get dedicated or even working drivers for the majority of the 4xx or 5xx cards.
That is unless apple turn round and suddenly start selling them in their Mac Pro's which isn't going to happen due to the power consumption of...
Well just saying last night as a little bit of testing with Cinebench.
5,1 netted me I think 8.72 for the OpenGL score
Whereas 3,1 gets me the full 33.89.
So yeah you can edit the kext but it doesn't really make a difference may aswell just stay at 3,1.
It also did not yield and difference...
On bootup and login my animations for opening say the applications folder seams a bit sluggish but around an hour later everything is smooth as butter is very weird.
Almost as if it "warms up"
Also a GTX 480 should be getting much more than 33fps in cinebench much much more.

This basically says improvements to the graphics drivers in the next release.
It's unlikely to be a vendor specific problem as the most manufactures can do is flash their own bios which only ever contains an overclock.
So to me this isn't a problem.
I haven't really noticed this freezing that people talk about and my card is flashed to an Asus voltage tweak bios.
Could...
My GTX480 gets 27.6fps.
If i removethe graphicspowerthingy.kext i get 33.5fps.
We need "proper" gaming/system drivers from Nvidia not just quadro drivers.
Thats where my thoughts lie.
Just gonna try a load of different settings tonight see where it leaves me. I'll post results as future reference for anyone with a similar problem.
