OK, I think I broke my working system by adding the video card intended for this build. Have one of these & installed:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814487076

By the looks of this thread, I need to change "No" to "Yes" in my org.chameleon.boot.plist - so I did. But it hangs at Apple logo - progress indicator freezes. If I try to boot in Safe Mode (-x), same thing. I have npci=0x2000 in my org.chameleon on both my UB key and the working install of Mavericks...

So I thought: Maybe I just need to do fresh install, but this time do with the EVGA GT 970 in place (instead of my ASUS Radeon card). But now UB won't even boot up - again, gray Apple logo and spinning progress indicator freezes.

Any thoughts?

Both your ATI 6450 & NVIDIA use GraphicsEnabler=No
The important thing about the GTX 970 is once you are running Yosemite you must install the NVIDIA web drivers to provide the GPU with driver support then change your org.chameleon.Boot.plist with the following

<key>Kernel Flags</key>
<string>nvda_drv=1</string>

Follow the instructions here:
http://www.tonymacx86.com/graphics/...1f01-maxwell-geforce-gtx-970-980-support.html

I have not read all of your build description so forgive me if I am going over old ground.

No worries, mate - thanks for that info. I knew about the Web drivers, but the way the description reads at the top of that post, it led me to believe that they are "optional" in order to get certain things to work (OpenCL and native GPU pwr mgmt). It sort of implies that OSX's native drivers should be sufficient for "vanilla" install & work OoB. I guess I'm learning otherwise in spades.

So combing back through this thread, I noticed that samtimbaud may have had a similar issue & was able to use nv_disable=1 bootflag. That actually works for me, and at least I was able to do a fresh install of Mavericks last night.

This morning, downloaded the Web drivers and installed (also changed my graphics enabler flag), and then added the kernel flag, too. Upon reboot, I seem to be stick here:

Thoughts...anyone?

My org.chameleon.Boot.plist:
Code:
<dict> <key>EthernetBuiltIn</key>
    <string>Yes</string>
    <key>GraphicsEnabler</key>
        <string>No</string>
    <key>IGPEnabler</key>

    <string>nvda_drv=1</string>
    <key>Legacy Logo</key>
    <string>Yes</string>
    <key>Timeout</key>
    <string>2</string>
        <key>UseKernelCache</key>
        <string>Yes</string>
        <key>Graphics Mode</key>

From pic, looks as if the GPU is not initializing.

Bolded section above should look like this:

<key>Kernel Flags</key>
<string>npci=0x2000 nvda_drv=1</string>

with a single space between each flag. Try that change and see if the GPU will start up.

AHHH!! Understood! This is my first time having to fuss with kernel flags, so VERY much appreciate the info, GB!

Good thing I have a working CCC backup using the other card. I think I'm going to try this approach:

1. Reinstall ASUS Radeon card.
2. Reimage my boot drive from working CCC backup
3. Install NVIDIA Web drivers
4. Make the necessary org.chameleon.boot.plist edits
5. Swap back to NVIDIA card
6. Pray :D

I was re-reading a bit of the GTX 970/980 thread & it looks like this is also the preferred install method.

UPDATE: Odd...tried installing the NVIDIA Web drivers, but using my Radeon card. Installer say "Computer not supported. This computer is not compatible with the NVIDIA Web driver." So I just put in the NVIDIA card & then did the above. A little further along, but still stuck & not able to get to desktop:

To activate TH card, is the same that first thunderbolt 1.0 on Z/X 7,8,9 motherboard.

Fisrt: Install card in the PC
2nd: load windows then download last asus thunderbolt driver, install it. check if the THcard is well recognized + your thunderbolt devices (peripherique) too on Windows, very important.
Shut down.

Once you got the card installed/activated in Windows, did the TB card or Thunderbolt support actually show up anywhere in Device Manager?

Your Step 1 and Step 2 are in reverse of what the ASUS installation manual recommends. Is there a reason why you installed hardware before drivers? Just curious. I'm just now trying to get my TB card (Thunderbolt EX II-Dual card) working in Win7. THANKS!!

I think i found it in device manager! Otherwise check it in bios and change cache to 128 and use legacy mode. It should work in mac if you do this.

Hope it works

Hmmm...good to know that it was in DM. I'm still having problems, but think I know why. The user guide doesn't say anything about which PCIe slot to use...but late last night, I stumbled across a post from Tonymac in the TB card testing thread: It needs to go in the slot furthest away from the CPU. I tried it in the 2 slots above that "bottom" slot. Stay tuned...and thanks!

Hey everybody,

I've been lurking here for a moment. I have a new build that I've just made to finish my film, that because of the specifics of that, I now *have* to get a Hackintosh system up and running, pretty fast.

I tried Unibeast plus the Plist edit and the 8-core Voodoo file. I got stuck with "PCI configuration begin." I tried bunches of different boot flags.

Now I've downloaded clover, and I'm starting to get a little stuck. What in particular do I need to do to the clover build to make this work?

I've read on the other forums that Yosemite is a no-go for my build, but I should be able to get mavericks going, right?

Thank you guys, so much!
