Yip, I have the same board, and it seems the same issue, also works well with a GTX670, as long as thunderbolt is disabled.
Which leave me feeling optimistic, as I am sure its probably something easy to fix, maybe even in osx 10.10

Yeah, i'm sure it'll be something simple-- just wondering how others are having success already... I tried clover too w/o getting anywhere-- i've got a blackmagic Ultrastudio 4k i'm itching to get up and running on this thing

Follow up on my install. Here are the glitches I faced - YMMV:

- I originally had kernel panics, but:
-- followed the lead from the install guide and set XMP memory profile to profile 1, and disabled VT-d...
-- followed this thread and disabled Intel Graphics (as I'm using an added card)
-- fixed!

- Booting was slow
-- followed this thread and removed AppleThunderboltNHI.kext.
-- fixed!

- Sound not working
-- followed this thread (http://www.tonymacx86.com/audio/134002-quick-fix-onboard-audio-9-series-motherboards.html)
-- This is partially fixed. I don't have audio hooked up, but earphones work.

I'm not using any thunderbolt accessories - but will try.

Otherwise - works great. I'm using it as my new main dev machine.

This forum was a great help!

- Next up - I want to triple boot with Window 7 and Ubuntu.

Do you have the sleep function when using this MB?

Yes, it does. Seems like a native power management is working as it can sleep easily(would "shut down" the computer after 15sec as if it's really closed) and can be awaken by MagicTrack pad via BT/ Mouse /Keyboard.

After fixing the 9-series MB audio issue, everything looks great.

What's more, since this Board only support wired ethernet, I add wifi&BT function by installing a PCI-E based BCM94360CD(BT4.0 and 1300M 11AC wifi). It works natively.

Here is the BCM together with adapter/
antenna.

I just got the z97x ud7 th today. I previously had a working installation with the z87x-ud5h but all of the usb ports died so I ordered the ud7. I took the old motherboard out and installed the z97x. It took a little long to boot the first time but ended up booting and getting me to my home screen. Everything worked perfectly but I wanted to see if upon a second boot, the startup time would be faster. After shutting the machine down and turning back on, the machine hangs at the white screen with the apple logo on it. I waited for about 20 minutes with no progress. I decided to do a fresh install of Mavericks using Chimera because I could not get past the white screen. The install completed but when the machine restarted and I selected the new install at the bootloader, it once again hangs at the white screen with the apple logo on it. Anyone experiencing similar problem with this board? Any suggestions?

** Update: I was able to get past the hanging screen and set up my machine by using -x GraphicsEnabler=yes PCIRootUID=0 maxmem=4096

***Update 2: Graphics seem shaky. Something is going on with the drivers. I am using integrated graphics, no graphics card. Any ideas to fix graphics?

Can you be more specific about the "9 series audio issue"?

I've been following these threads, and few seem to have working audio. So can you be a bit more specific? What do you have working? Everything? Stereo?

A few details would be appreciated.

sorry for being ambiguous. In fact, at the time I installed the 10.9.3, the ALC1150 on-board audio chip don't work no matter how I try different version of drivers. Fortunately, Someone solved this problem and I found the solution in this thread http://www.tonymacx86.com/audio/112458-mavericks-audio-realtek-alc-applehda-guide.html
I hope it can help you.

Perhaps. Thank you for the link. But I was curious: to what extent is the sound "working"? Is it limited, like just stereo from some of the jacks? Or do you have all jacks working now, 5.1 surround, etc.?

I am just curious because I was about to buy one of these boards, but I wanted to make sure I could get at least some kind of quality sound out of it.

I have no idea to what extend it works either as I only use the basic audio output function-I only use the simple 2.1 speakers, which I also use in WIN, in OS X. I not sure whether other function working or not, but you can have at least the stereo from 2 jacks(they work exactly the same, so I just picked one)

Just an update:

I'm still working on getting it up and running. I've reached a point where my existing knowledge of the custom Mac world is no longer helping me, so trying to learn this stuff. Going well I think, just a slow process and information regarding Thunderbolt (especially Apple's implementation of it) is super hard to come by.

Thunderbolt is 100% necessary for me on this motherboard. If I can't get the Thunderbolt working as it should, then there really is no reason to buy this motherboard over any of the non-Thunderbolt offerings by ASUS and Gigabyte. So that will be my focus for now.

FYI - My issue was that the only sound that worked was:
- front headpohone jack
- bt audio

I came here today to see if there's an update on audio - and it looks like there is! I'll update in a second.
