One question, which UEFI release do you use? Your board is already all the way up to version F17 :p

On top of that, we've informed Gigabyte about some tweaks we're hoping they'll add to their UEFI with regards to USB 3.0 that may, or may not solve the lag that appears after sleep.

It's odd that your card reader doesn't work, as I have a Kingston one and some random OEM brand I got a while back for testing and both works just fine in OS X, alongside three different USB 3.0 pen drives and an external enclosure.

Hi,

Yes, this is with the latest F17 bios (the only custom settings applied to OS-X 10.8.1 with Multibeast 5.02 were FakeSMC Motherboard plugins, Maolj's Atheros Ethernet and 3rd Party eSata, which all seem to be functioning ok).

And that Transcend card reader does work ok when plugged into a USB 2 port, just not on the USB3 ...

Well, I don't really have any ideas here. We'll just have to wait for 10.8.2 and hope for some improved USB 3.0 support. 10.8.1 didn't seem to add anything really.

I discovered that part of the problem is my own fault! Sifting through the system log I found some entries of vmware and parallels launchd -- it turns out that the Migration Assistent I had run to restore my applications from the MacPro had imported the launchd items too, even though they weren't used any more, and worst of all a "USB-Overdrive" mouse driver I had once tested on the MacPro.

Removing these has fixed the problem with the mouse lagging after sleep.

The USB still seems to be very timing sensitive, though. After the application import problem, I did a new clean install just to make sure I was really testing an unmodified OS-X, and there both mouse and keyboard (wired Apple Keyboard and Logitech wired mouse) work after sleep with the "optimized defaults" bios settings.
When upping the turbo boost to 4.4 GHz, the mouse still works after sleep, but the keyboard remains off after sleep and only works if unplugged and replugged.

So my guess is that the Apple driver is counting on some timings which change with the higher clock frequency?

The non-functioning Transcend Card Reader still remains unfunctional, even on a clean, not-overclocked system, and since someone reported that even the Apple Retina MBP has USB 3 issues, we'll hopefully get better results whenever 10.8.2 appears!

I just tested the system without the overclock on, i.e. at stock speeds. Everything worked properly! But it would be great if it worked with the OC. It is prime95 stable for 2+ hours, Aida64 overnight, so I'm not sure why it's happening.

The USB seems flakey -- both at stock speed and OC.
On my GA-Z77X-UD3H with i5-3570k everything stays mostly the same, both at stock speed (3.6GHz) and with turbo set to 4.2 GHz. Some USB 3 devices work, some don't, and the wake-up from sleep doesn't work either way ...

For 10.8.2 to work on GA-Z77X-UP5 TH F9 I needed to disable VT-d.

For 10.8.2 to work on GA-Z77X-UP5 TH F9 I needed to disable VT-d.

I needed to do the same on my Z77-DS3H. Appears to be working correctly now, though. My GeekBench even jumped about 100 or so points. Is there going to be something I miss down the road by disabling VT-d?

VT-d is enabled on my Z77X-UP5 TH running 10.8.2 running F11
