Asus Z690 ProArt Creator WiFi (Thunderbolt 4) + i7-12700K + AMD RX 6800 XT

M2 Geekbench scores appeared to have leaked out. 1919 ST vs approx 1700 on M1. 8928 MT vs approx 7500 on M1. Running at 3.5 Ghz vs 3.2 Ghz on M1.

Now that's a respectable single-core score in today's market.

** New Build: Asus ROG Strix Z690-i Gaming WiFi mini-ITX **

Introduction:
For the past several months I had been thinking of building my first mini-ITX system. That plan came to fruition today with the following system:
...
System Reliability Tip:
  • The Asus ROG Strix Z690-i Gaming WiFi contains a VRM fan whose speed can be controlled in BIOS.
  • There are several built-in fan curves:
    • Standard; Silent; Turbo; Custom; etc.
  • I had been using Silent for several weeks and my system was freezing or locking up every couple of hours. On a hunch I wondered if this was due to overheating so I changed the setting to Standard.
  • There hasn't been a single crash or lockup in the past 3 days.
Bottom Line:
  • Do not use Silent or any reduced fan mode for the VRM fan
P.S.
  • There's a new BIOS 1505 for this board; installation was flawless

Very nice SFF build @CaseySJ

Would love to follow the progress of this build, any chance this will get its own thread?

@CaseySJ, were you able to get primevideo app working natively? I got only this on the app, but it is working fine on browser ie. Safari / Chrome.

my config is almost similar as yours, SMBIOS iMacPro7,1, Z690i + i9 12900K, RX 6800 XT, I mod your EFI to my need (i.e. USB config and took out the 10gig network).

Thanks

The Amazon PrimeTV app works just fine on my Asus Z690-i Gaming WiFi under Monterey.

Some questions:
  • Do you mean MacPro7,1 (not iMacPro7,1)?
  • There is no 10GbE network on this board; are you referring to Asus ROG Strix Z690-i or Asus ProArt Z690-WiFI?

@CaseySJ hi! I’ve noticed that with this z690 pro-art when in sleep the power button of my case (fractal define 6 usb-c) is not blinking anymore (as it was on my z490 Asus) , is there a way to have it blinking? Having it completely off it’s annoying and can lead to wrong thinking to have the machine powered off.

Hi @Azimuth1,

Was the power LED blinking before on your Asus Z690 system? Maybe the latest BIOS (1505) caused the LED to stop blinking? (I cannot test this on my ProArt Z690 because it is still getting repaired by Asus.)

Another option is to use RGB RAM because the RGB LEDs will remain on when system is sleeping. If your Fractal Define R6 has a glass side panel, you'll be able to see the lights.

I cannot know because I've built my new system with BIOS 1505 already upgraded. And no... I don't have the glass side panel on my R6.

PS: on the ProArt's manual there are TWO PLED indicated, which one are you using?
