Hey Guys,

I bought a used Dell Latitude E5470 because I read that it should be easy to run macOS (Catalina) on it.
I have moderate programming skills but most of the programs and names which are used in this context (hackintosh) I am not familiar with.
MY problem that there are so many different ways based on different hardware guides, desktop, laptop but also the age of the documentations.
I also have a MacBookPro20 for all the other things.

I am able to create a bootable macOS (Catalina) stick via the Macs Terminal, I am also able to change most of the bio setting I found in the documentations. Yesterday I tried some installations (guides). First the Installation Guide here from the webpage (with UniBeast) but loading Catalina the first time from the USB stops/ stuck at 100%. Then I recognized that this installation is for desktops and not for laptops, right?
The I used the guide for a Dell Latitude E5470 from the "laptops - Catalina laptop support" but with an i3 processor (and I think other specs).

I know the question "how to start" is maybe the most asked question but ... can anybody give me a hint what's the beste way to start.
I think the biggest problem is how I to create my own and specific EFI file (on my Mac for the E5470). I found EFI files from other people with similar but not same hardware , but I think that ist not the best way.

Sorry for the noob question.

Cheers!

yes, unibeast is designed for desktops

have a read on:

Okay, so I followed the guide...

I prepared the USB (128gb) --> "Clover EFI" + "Install macOS Catalina"

I used the Clover Version from RehabMan (Clover_v2.4k_r4701.RM-4963.ca6cca7c.pkg) or ist it better to use the latest version? I set the settings as described and added the "HFSPlus.efi". I think there I have no mistake.

I set the Bios as described (as far as possible).

I downloaded and used the config.pls and changed the name (in my case the HD520).

Then I have a problem with .kext in general. I not really understand which kexts I need or how I decide which ones are important and which not. I tried to download all the kexts in the guide but some of them are not available anymore, so I searched in other forums and found some EFI folders with the kexts and used them.
Maybe you will tell me to find my hardware details. Do I have to install for example a linux OS to get them? There is no OS installed right now.

Then tried to run the USB. Bootloader works, I set verbose mode and safe mode and startet the "install macOS Catalina". The it runs and then it ends with this code:

rehabman's version of clover hasn't been updated for some time now and may not work

also re partition your usb stick to 32GB

Okay, I make some progress! (hopefully)

I used a 16gb USB stick and a newer Clover Version (5144) (and the same kexts as before).

I startet "Install macOS Catalina" in normal mode and it seems to be working BUT then it stucks at "100%" also after one hour waiting.

I started it again in verbose mode and the code looks like this --> picture

Use the forum Search tool to look for 1689.
It is a common problem with a (usually) simple solution.

Okay, did so and added "SSDT-EC-USBX.aml" to the "CLOVER EFI/EFI/CLOVER/ACPI/patched" folder.

Now the process breaks up and the laptop restarts.

Is this the often called "kernel panic"?

It is and in this case it appears to relate to misconfigured graphics.

Check the DVMT value in the BIOS settings and make sure that it is at least 64mb.

Okay, I already read something about that.

I can not change it in the bios, so I have to use an alternative.

There is this guide (you maybe would refer to):

The guide is six years old. Is that guide still working or is there a newer method?

I have no idea ( I have no interest in hacking Laptops ) but @Feartech will probably be along later and he should be able to help you.
