I used an non low profile RX 560 card and had not such probs running it with Mojave up to Big Sur. The GPU temp of your 55 Celsius should be NO problem! GPU temp can be much higher before GPU cant work any more. Perhaps other parts of your card getting to hot , like VRM (supports voltage) or DRAM isnt goof enough cooled?
Or it can be an prob with AMD CPU - dont know.
PS: You can use also my GPU Menue V0.9 Tool to look for gpu temp (also max temp over the time, max clk if you click on the Menue ), gpu fan speed gpu load, VRAM usage, .

Thank you so much for advise. I have removed my card and shipped back to Amazon. The card had the same issues in Windows 10 too. I tested it with Furmark, and there was the same problem. I have installed my GT710 back and wait for another Radeon. I will write here the result with a new Radeon card.

Hey, I just found this post through some googling.

I’m currently trying to get my hackintosh up & running, it’s a ryzen 3200G, bought this card as my igpu isn’t supported. I’m currently trying to install macOS Mojave, I’ve set everything up through dortania guide.

During boot up it seems to stop and stay stuck at..
“OCSMC: SmcReadValue Key 4D535463 Size 1”
“OCSMC: SmcReadValue Key 4D534163 Size 2”

Not sure if this is the appropriate place to ask for help, but I’ve read that it could be a gpu compatibility issue on other parts of the internet & you actually have it working. Seeing your success makes me hopeful. Does anyone here have any idea on what I should try? I can share more info if need be.

Thanks

Hi, my problem with GPU RX560 is solved. I have returned this GPU to Amazon and have bought used Radeon Pro WX4100. Dimensions of GPU are the same, performance is about the same, but the fan is VERY silent, especially in loading. Fan noise is inaudible. And the bonus is functional AirPlay with my TV LG. Yes, WX4100 is more expansive than Visiontek RX560, but you can bought used. I am very surprised, and i think,Radeon Pro WX4100 is better choice than Visiontek RX560.

I picked up a VisionTek RX 560 to use in an HP ProDesk 400 G6 SFF. Since I have an i5-9400F in the system, I needed some sort of video card.

I'm happy to report that it works OOB with macOS. It was just plug-n-play. Everything just worked including DisplayPort audio. I had to enable CSM. Without CSM, the splash screen and OpenCore Boot Picker were distorted.

Under normal loads, the video card is relatively quiet. However, if you play a decently high bit rate HEVC 4K video or start gaming, the fan can get quite loud. That being said, it was able to play the video perfectly.

When playing an HEVC 4K video, I saw GPU temps hit 90C. To be fair, this ProDesk case is tiny and has very little airflow but I wish they would have included a heatsink that ran the length of the video card just for a bit more surface area.

Despite the fan noise, I'm quite impressed with how well the video card performs. My primary reason for getting the card was for emulation gaming in Batocera and, with this card and the i5-9400F, I average about 50-60fps in Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild upscaled to 1080p in Cemu which is really good. The performance comes really close to my dual slot RX 560 (16CU).

Those seem to be about the only RX 560 that sells for anywhere near the retail price. Sounds like a good option.

Third party Newegg sellers are still acting like scalpers trying to make a quick buck.

I don't even know what the retail price of this card is. Lol

I managed to find one for $168 shipped and just went for it.

I did a bit more testing and tried with he case open and a little USB powered fan blowing at it and the video card ran much better. Temps topped out at 68C and it was very quiet. The problem is definitely how tight the interior of the ProDesk is. The card is starved for air when the case is closed.

In the HP or Dell SFF models it's that the tiny front fan has so much behind it blocking the air intake, it doesn't really cool anything internal. I often just unplug it to reduce fan noise.

That looks pretty clean on the interior. Did it come like that or did you take it apart and clean it ?

That's a good deal. Before the latest crypto boom that started last December, the retail prices were generally between $180 to $200 at places like Newegg. That's for new, not refurbs.

You did really well getting a new card for that price.

True single-slot cards of that power are pretty rare. My own Dell OEM RX560 may look like a single-slot card but the heatsink is two-slots wide. Mind you, it does keep the card cool, but it wouldn't fit in that Prodesk. o_O
