So, if I'm not mistaken, the difference between a M1 MBA and M1 MBP is a fan!. I'm voiding my warranty, and buying a cod piece!.

Yes. That was always the only difference.

And, no, it shouldn't void your warranty. It's completely reversible.

Hi both.

I thought the MB Air had two less GPU cores. Same number CPU cores though... Don't quote me though. Memory like a sieve ...

You too can convert your M1 Air into M1 Pro with the use of tape!. Thanks Amazon.

Hello. My M1 Air has the 8 core GPU, the other one available has 7.

It depends on which option you choose. The 8 GPU cores is available on MacBook Air as an option.

No, don't buy this. It's too thin. I think you need at least 2mm thickness. Also, higher quality thermal pad is probably a good idea.

TBH Craig, I think it's only needed if you are maxing out the laptop running benchmarks or other stressful applications all day long. LTT often creates solutions to problems that don't exist. The M1 MBA isn't made for long gaming sessions or rendering 4K videos for hours at a time. It's perfectly fine without the thermal pads applied. Doing this on an older Intel MBA would make more sense because those have more significant thermal throttling problems with just average to light loads.

Yes for sure, these Macs are significantly cooler and more efficient than the Intel ones. Plus LLT is all about clicks and nonsense like that. Not worth worrying about.
