Gigabyte Z490 Vision D (Thunderbolt 3) + i5-10400 + AMD RX 580

Hello,

I hope someone can help me with a Sleep/Wake issue. I've narrowed down the cause of the Dark Wake to my QNAP QNA-T310G1S TB3 10gbe. If it's connected, it wakes up (but monitor stays off) immediately after going to sleep but when I disconnect it, the machine stays asleep.

Here's something from the sleep log:

2020-11-10 20:37:59 +0100 DarkWake DarkWake from Normal Sleep [CDN] : due to PEG1 PEG2 RP04/ Using AC (Charge:0%) 5 secs
2020-11-10 20:37:59 +0100 HibernateStats hibmode=0 standbydelaylow=0 standbydelayhigh=0 29
2020-11-10 20:37:59 +0100 WakeTime WakeTime: 10.218 sec
2020-11-10 20:37:59 +0100 Kernel Client Acks Delays to Wake notifications: [AppleEthernetAquantiaAqtion driver is slow(msg: SetState to 2)(375 ms)] [IOThunderboltController driver is slow(msg: SetState to 2)(406 ms)] [en0 driver is slow(msg: DidChangeState to 1)(863 ms)] [PRT3 driver is slow(msg: SetState to 2)(1204 ms)]

I'm using iMacPro1,1 smbios.

Everything else is working properly except for this one last thing.

Thanks!

In my original instructions for upgrading to OpenCore 0.6.3, I erroneously stated that we should copy Board ID from Hackintool instead of Board Serial Number. Everyone should check the MLB in OpenCore Configurator and fix the entry if necessary (simply copy the same field from your OpenCore 0.6.2 or previous config.plist):

In the OpenCore 0.6.3 config files for this system, the only other change is the inclusion of NVRAM --> Delete entries:

Hey Casey

Thanks for the reply again you're very kind with your time mate.

I have now noticed a msg coming up on boot at the top left of the screen (which happens so fast its hard to capture on photo/video) but I think it says:

OC: Failed to find ACPI SSDT-DTPG.aml
OC: Failed to find ACPI-SSDT TB3HP.aml

Never seen that before so guessing its causing the slow boot issues I'm experiencing. So Opencore is referring to the thunderbolt SSDTs for the Vision D right? Obviously, we disable those in the ACPI section of OCC for the Vision G.

I copied all the serials across manually in propertree from the old (but quick to boot) config.plist from 0.6.1 into 0.6.3. I'm guessing it doesn't matter that i used propertree and not OCC for this as I find it an easier platform to copy and paste serials because you can have 2x config.plists open at once or should I perform the serial copying in OCC?

Also, when I try to delete the NVRAM entries as you suggested in the 0.6.3 config.plist in OCC they keep reappearing when next i load it up in OCC on from a reboot of Mac OS?

Best

Hello All,

EDIT:
Just to let you know that I solved my issue. Apparently it was not related to my config which is good but likely with Big Sur Beta.

I reinstalled MacOS Catalina with the exact same EFI folder and no problems at all.

As recommended by trs96, I post here the issue I have with my EFI folder with the hope someone can give me some help :)
I have used Casey EFI folder as a base for my configuration.

Configuration:
Gigabyte Z490 Vision G
Intel I7 10700k
Sapphire Pulse RX 5600 XT
32 Go Corsair Vengance LPX 3200
SSD Samsung Evo 1TB

Running Big Sur Beta with OpenCore 0.6.3

Issue:
Screen goes black after Apple logo and progress bar. System runs fine in background as I can hear sound when hitting enter key. Screen does not display "No signal" but stays black.

I have tried many differents things:
- changing agdpmod=pikera instead of agdpmod=vit9696
- disabled iGPU in the bios
- Using DP instead of HDMI ports
- Testing all DP ports

But none of them seems to fix my issue.

Last info, when I select iGPU as primary graphic in the bios, system boots fine. Once I'm logged in, I can change from iGPU to my RX 5600 XT and this working fine.

Thank in advance for you help,
J-

I had the same Beauvoir in my system
My post
solved downgrading the bios and then upgrading again
Thanks for the info. I tried the delete prefs file Caey suggested, but no joy sadly. I will follow your idea and see if that gets it to work ok.

I will let you know how I get on.

Are you using one of the two Ethernet ports on the rear IO panel, or an Ethernet PCIe add-in-card?

Also try deleting /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/NetworkInterfaces.plist and reboot. This file will be regenerated on boot.

Hi Casey,

I tried the above but no change sadly. I read someone went back to an earlier firmware for the X490 and then back again, and this fixed the issue. Do you think anything else is worth trying? Thanks.

if you have disabled SSDT-DTPG.aml & SSDT TB3HP.aml in OCC then used propertree, then propertree will re add them again, you might want to delete those files, I have also find that propertree messes around with the order of the kexts that load up whice could be causing slow boot up.

Heya thanks for the reply.

With due diligence I rebuilt my whole EFI folder from scratch following closely Casey's instructions and still I have the same problem as described above with 0.6.3.

This time I didn't go anywhere near propertree.

Going back to 0.6.1 config fixes the slow boot up issue for me.

@andyxm715 are you on 0.6.3 with your Vision G?

Upgraded to 20B28 from Catalina today.
Did not do a clean install. The whole process took less an 1 hour.

Used gibOS to download and create the installation media

Somethings I noted
• If you have FileVault enabled, it'll take some time for the Installer to be able to unlock the disk.
• In total, I rebooted a total of 4 times

@CaseySJ Big Sur official release was announced today for the 12th of november, in a few days from now. Are you planning to release a sort of guide for OC/Big sur? I have been following this thread pretty much since the beginning and read lots of posts on big sur (never took the plunge just been waiting for the official version) , various settings, etc. A bit hard to know what work or does not work. Would be nice to have a sort of baseline guide if possible.
Thanks.
