[SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

@CaseySJ I have noticed that when I use Gigabyte Thunderbolt 3.0 card on Asus X299-Aii or X299 Asus Tuf mark II motherboards the Sleep breaks. but If I use Asrock thundebrolt 3.0 cards then sleep works fine..any idea what may be the reason behind this? also is there a patched Asrock Thunderbolt 3.0 card firmware available? I have the original bin file from this card if required...also happy to pay for the support...

For me and I have a modified firmware if I connect the card to the Thunderbolt header it breaks sleep.

Couple of observations and a question now that I'm using the Designare Z390+ i7-8700 + RX580 + Fenvi FV-T919 for production. OSX Catalina 10.15.7 is installed - pretty much using the same kexts and DSDT/SSDT in Clover as suggested by CaseySJ. Question first in case you're not interested in the long comments about Catalina

Question -> Sleep works beautifully - Thanks CaseySJ for the great stuff! As a personal preference, I don't like any key to "wake" the computer. Is there any way to disable that such that in order to wake up the computer I actually need to push the power button? Thanks!

Obs about Catalina:

a) I am using a 40" Samsung TV as a monitor, but I believe such a thing will happen if you're using any monitor - if you're using 3840x2160 @60Hz there is a very clear difference for better if you use the DP port of the RX580 vs the HDMI port ... of course my TV only has a HDMI input, but I use a little DP to HDMI 4K@60Hz that I purchased at Amazon. The fonts are so much crisper, and overall the image looks less washed than before. I tried to get pictures of the difference, but was not able to do it. Anyway, you should try for yourself, the converter is only $20 and if you're like me that stays 12+ hours a day in front of the computer, you really will enjoy the boost in quality.

b) Lots of things are missing in Catalina, not sure if everyone is aware of that - can't run 32-bit apps, so I lost Aperture, National Geographic and my Fujitsu scanner lost some functions like CardMinder.... since occasionally I still use these things, I will use VBox to create a virtual machine running an older version of OS X ... A little sad that Apple decided to retire support for those things, but if the whole system works better and more reliably because of it, I'm all for it. Then Dashboard is gone ... not sure why Apple justify doing such a thing, but such is life. I used dashboard with multiple clocks to keep time with friends and co-workers around the world - that option is now available using "Today" ... also some sticky notes now need an app ... make sure your old widget-com.apple.widget.stickies.plist is ~/Library/Preferences BEFORE you run the Stickies.app ... I even found on Github a thing called finanx-12c to replace my little HP12C dashboard gadget ...

c) Regarding Catalina, for the life of me, I have no idea why Apple eliminated /usr/include ... I get that they want the /usr to be mounted read-only and you don't want little changes here and there as you add stuff to /usr/include might be a problem so they moved it /Developer/.../usr/include ... Would it cost much to add a little symbolic link from /usr/include to that location and avoid breaking one of UNIX simplest and oldest rule? I've seen /usr/include as a standard since 1980 ... The trick is "sudo mount -rw /" and "sudo ln -s /Developer/.../usr/include /usr/include"

Hope this helps other people that found similar problems with Catalina

Hey!

I've started to encounter a weird bug on my Hackintosh a few times already.

Mostly when using Ableton Live, the system freeze (can't use mouse/keyboard, basically any input is discarded), but Ableton is still playing normally, my sound card (UAD Arrow) still picks up sound input + output through speakers, and notifications are still coming in (Mail, Slack..).

The system seems to work normally from an outside view, I just can't interact at all, forcing me to reboot.

Any idea what could be the issue ?

I'm using OC 0.6.1 / 10.15.7 (this issue was already a thing on 0.6.0 / 10.15.6).

Thanks.

Do you happen to have any midi devices connected via USB? I had a very weird issue with ableton freezing in the same way when I turned a knob to its max value. It only happened when I had my prophet 6 connected via USB.

Yes I have an Arturia controller connected via USB! But the freeze doesn't occur when I interact with it tho.
Maybe it's sending nasty signals anyway? Did you find any workaround or you just keep your Prophet disconnected?
The keyboard acquisition and bug first appearance seems to coincide :(

Edit: After searching, some users reported this exact same issue which seems related to MIDI. It's killing USB ports.

I wonder if these USB MIDI controllers may be forcing an increase in bus-polling if they're running off of proprietary USB drivers. I only connect my stuff via a cheap "driverless" M-Audio USB-to-MIDI corded dongle. YMMV.
If you're getting DAW errors in addition (like the infamous Pro Tools 6101 error, you may benefit from disabling spindump. If you want that procedure, let me know in a reply.

Please post the following screenshots:
  • Catalina:
    • /Library/Extensions
    • kextstat | grep -v apple
  • Clover:
    • CLOVER/kexts/Other
    • CLOVER/drivers64/UEFI
  • OpenCore:
    • OC/Kexts
    • OC/Drivers

I also realise that my wifi is now very very slow when my hackintosh wake from sleep, which was never happening before, is this because I deleted many kext from the /Library/Extensions and didn't put them in the CLOVER/kexts/Other folder ?
I also have my Ethernet ports that are not working.

EDIT :

I tried reverting and put back the previous kext I had in /Library/Extensions and things works back (Ethernet, etc.). Still I don't know why OC doesn't boot. I added my previous /Library/Extensions kext list in the screenshots.

Since updating to the latest Catalina 10.5.7, some weird CPU activity it's running from "accountsd" process, first days it was fixed with a reboot, now it stays up even after a reboot, ( of course tried to reset NVRAM, reinstall BIOS,etc)

Anyone else noticed this?

Thnx

Edit: seems like its new bug in Crap-alina

@CaseySJ Hi, sir!

Would you help me, please?

I've tried to follow your guide but got stuck during launching the installer on "please switch to xpc or bootstrap_check_in()"

what should I do resolve this issue?
