feel free to create a guide :)

Hi, fortunately, or unfortunately, it's not necessary to create a new one. I followed Dortania's OpenCore install guide and it works flawlessly. Only one weak point is that RX5500XT doesn't support HDMI sound-out because it's at 2nd & 3rd output ports. I purchased DisplayPort to HDMI converter and it works perfectly. Usually, the 1st port supported especially for the sound, but HDMI ports are not 1st, which causes the issue. Another trick for me was to disable CSM in BIOS, with this On, I couldn't boot successfully. However, there were some small things not explained at the guidebook specific for my HW spec, I'd like to share my trial & errors here to save other's time & effort. It was my first trial of Catalina with OpenCore after usage of the Clover boot loader for many years.

a lot of peeps will find that useful! :)

@sayla87 be sure to follow the User Builds Template. TIA.

Orignally it was only text base picker but because of lots of requests it has a visual picker also now. It does support multipul OS's but I think it is more difficult to configure then clover. I only boot MacOS some people use the bios to select different OS boot drives.

Yes OC supports multiple OSes, and it literally just works most of the time, windows will be automatically detected, as well as most linux bootloaders as long as they were added to the bootlist of the BIOS's nvram. And even adding a new entry is easier than clover, check the documentation pdf please.

OpenCore boots macOS and Windows, but not Linux at this time. Yet another reason for the leading zero in its version number — OC is not yet feature complete. But it is coming along incredibly well.

Wrong! OpenCore boots anything that is an EFI application, it doesnt matter what OS it is, Windows, linux, BSD, you name it. It's all about properly configuring their bootloaders so that they get properly detected and loaded. OC's features were complete long ago, now it's all about polishing, the version numbers mean literally nothing, it's not in "Beta" and version 1.0.0 will not mean it's complete, it's just a matter of preference and a choice the devs will make.

OC Gen-X Does not need Xcode, OCBuilder on the other hand does. Both OC Gen-x and OCBuilder work perfectly fine on Ryzen Hacks.
Thanks for the clarification, I didn’t intend to criticize the tools, in fact they make things easy for folks and xCode is free so it’s not a bad tool to have as well.

Given the disdain I have for ASRock’s poorly written ACPI, the Gigabyte B550 Vision D is looking very tempting.

Also wondering if Zen 3 will be accompanied by new chipsets — X670 and B650?? If so, will they be manufactured on 7nm as well so board vendors can finally eliminate those noisy chipset fans?

I would like to think so, for X670 at least.

As for the noisy chipset fans, I don't really know if we'll ever get rid of them even at 7nm. Nvidia's RTX 30 series is going to be on 8nm - but look at the heatsink and fan setups on those!

That said, my main concern for this new generation of gear coming is actually longevity. Because of looking for faster I/O between the CPU and memory, we may be sacrificing SSD longevity (using the new algorithms like RTX I/O). Also heard the new 980 Pro NVMe SSDs is said to be going onto TLC NAND instead of MLC like before, which is going to shorten the SSD's expected lifespan.

VERY good news
I'm using an AMD hackintosh with OpenCore and some patch thanks to the AMD OS X community, and it works flawlessly

But, when I see comments from @Gogeta-Blue or @Midphase, I don't know if I will share my experience and make a build on this forum because of the community.
It's just hardware dude...
Sorry.

Hi there.

Two people are not this whole community. Like everyone else, they have their opinions and, within the site-rules, are allowed to express them. I am sure there are many that either agree or disagree.

You are welcome here and if you have a successful build, or you need help getting there, then do not be put off by others. We look forward to hearing more from you and about your build.

:)

WTH did I say?

Look, I'm glad that your Ryzentosh is working fine for you. But some Adobe apps simply don't work on Ryzentoshes -- Waves plugins don't work, Cubase doesn't work, Reaper doesn't work, and even Logic Pro exhibits some weird behavior.

Perhaps you don't use any of the affected apps, but I do...so for someone like myself I'd rather pay a bit extra for Intel and get full compatibility with the software that I need.

Here is a direct quote from Dortania which I tend to trust quite a lot when it comes to Hackintosh and OC:

"While AMD CPUs can work but we advise against them due to numerous issues still plaguing them as they're not natively supported."

LINK: Dortania - CPU's to avoid

All that I care about is that proper information is offered to people so that they can make an educated decision before they sink a bunch of cash into a CPU and mobo that will not work for what they need.

Regardless...if you want to share your build I don't understand why my posts should be a deterrent for you, nor why you're using me as a justification as to why you shouldn't do it.
