[SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

Hi @c0c0p0ps - I use a 1000w ps....I have tried it powered and non powered - doesnt change things - are there any specific bios settings that you suggest I check?

Is this for the Z390 or the X79?

I'm not sure what I should be looking at here. The link points to the full OC guide :). Do you meant to have me run the NVRAM reset? If so I did run it.

Following your experience, I've updated the OS to Catalina, it broke the Bistream 3X app, but all the rest is working fine, and I finally don't get Activation error with Native Access stuff. My Apollo8P MKII is working via TB like before. All in all it was pretty seamless as a process. Nothing broke! Staying there until next update.

I tried again to move to OpenCore 0.6.0 using the EFI that @CaseySJ posted in his MiniGuide. In the AMD config file (I've got a Radeon RX580) I've pasted the values various SN values. In the BIOS settings I've set Windows 8/10 Features to Windows 8/10 instead of Other OS. I checked cfglock is at 0. But I still get stuck on boot with the apple logo and no progress bar.
Luckily, now reboot works without needing to re-flash the MB OS, which is now F9g as per the guide.

How can I activate the verbose mode in OC Configurator to get an idea of where is hanging? What next steps can I take to move to OC? Setting AppleDebug: YES sends me in a BIOS reboot loop.

How is the latency in logic pro with this build? I'm thinking about upgrading and this is the closest I can find for what I want (music production build using logic pro and some plugins etc)

Hello everyone,
Hello @CaseySJ

Any ways to know if this mouse (New Razer Naga Pro) would display on the UEFI/BIOS screen or on the Clover Screen ?
To be more Precise, how would you know if an hardware is compatible and can be used on Clover screen ?

I need this to switch Between Windows and Mac.

Thank you very much,
Have a nice day

Download the Dsignaire NVM33 and flash it - This is actually the firmware I am using.

As for BIOS settings to try I wouldn't know enough about your board to make any recommendations. I have settled on a setup for my Asus Z370 based on several different guides and also my own experience. For example I do not enable XMP as my board correctly recognises my RAM timings automatically and without XMP it runs less voltage through my CPU. I need to enable CSM or get a black screen during boot. I generally disable any controllers / ports I am not using.

Can you not sleep your computer instead of a full shut down? While waking from sleep doesn't automatically reconnect devices plugged into my Titan Ridge, a quick unplug / replug of the cable correctly connects again, and macOS retains the drivers loaded for my dock without needing a restart.
interestingly Ive never used sleep....- thanks for the link

Flashed the NVM33 Firmware to the TR card. The behaviour is exactly the same....:(. Sleep did not make any difference either....getting depressed - as @c0c0p0ps the fact that its solid when on means it can do it - I wonder if I should find an Alpine Ridge and give that a go?

The best Thunderbolt performance -- bar none -- is with flashed Designare Z390. The flashed Z490 Vision D comes close, but USB-C devices do not work unless connected prior to boot. But no such problems with Designare Z390. Even sleep/wake works with all the devices I have tried (this does not mean all cases everywhere, only the devices I have tried), which include:
  • PowerColor Gaming Station eGPU
  • Belkin Dock Pro
  • OWC 14-Port Dock
  • Apple Thunderbolt Gigabit Ethernet adapter with Apple TB3-to-TB2 adapter
Sleep/wake works with these devices and the devices connected to the docks.

When you say sleep ‘made no difference’ do you mean once the card is recognised after however many reboots, if you then put your computer to sleep instead of a full shutdown, when you wake it there is no TB at all?

hi - if theres no thunderbolt on boot - it wont be there after sleep - it activates in the first part of the clover load at the same time as USB. I know this, as I have some usb flash drives on the top of the case - the lights flash during boot then the thunderbolt activates (if it does), then graphics , then osx. Sleep is all post OSX boot....
