[SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

Hello guys! I'm here following @CaseySJ tutorial and @dolgarrenan instructions from his X299x post.

I have some Thunderbolt cards, Alpine Ridge, Titan Ridge, some versions, from Asus, Asrock and Gigabyte.

I'm going to test all the completely Thunderbolt implementations with one GC Titan Ridge Card and my Asus Prime X299 Deluxe II.

My audio interface is an Antelope Zen Tour. I have it from 2 years ago. As people know Antelope interfaces didn't worked with Thunderbolt in hackintosh because of the Network implementations that needs to connect their server.

Have anyone with Antelope tried if now that Thunderbolt is fully implemented, works?

Regards to everyone!

Hello, after I have completed the installation according to the steps, everything is useful, but the sound seems to be out of order, after the boot run for a period of time without sound

Hi @CaseySJ, I'm facing an off-topic issue with a Z-270 Kaby Lake hackintosh. The hackintosh is not in my power since I help to build it remotely over Zoom, since we're on lockdown in Buenos Aires, the same as many other big cities in the world.

The issue is: this hackintosh fails to load AppleHDA.kext for some reason. Moreover, this hackintosh has quite a few peculiarities:

- The owner needs to be in 10.11.6 because of a compatibility issue with a Firewire audio device, which drivers only work up to 10.11.6.
- The build has a 7700K (HD 630) and no dGPU. The system recognizes the iGPU because of ticking the Inject Intel box via CC. It gets full acceleration to draw the OS interface by injecting the device ID 0x12190000 (which is actually HD 530) and SMBIOS 17,1, but it fails to enter YouTube in Safari (it does work in Chrome though).

I've tried collecting the vanilla AppleHDA kext from the installer using Pacifier, but placing it in S/L/E and repairing permissions won't get it to load. Do you have any suggestions, please? Or any advice in general regarding the iGPU? I don't know who else to ask.

Thanks in advance!

EDIT: I can't get it to boot on SMBIOS iMac18,3 and I also see no encoding for HEVC or H.264 in VideoProc.

** Micro-Guide: Radeon Speed Boost **
for Vega 56/64, Radeon VII, RX 5500/XT, RX 5700/XT

Is this recommended for most running z390 Designare and 5700XT users? @CaseySJ

The results pretty much speak for themselves I feel in regards to the performance lost we had all been seeing from windows 10 to macOS on the 5700XT. We had assumed it was the card not being fully supported but it looks like this can squeeze out the performance we expect from this card. With removal or -wegoff boot arg has card still been able to use 2+ IO ports out for multiple monitor displays?

Do we expect this will be able to be pushed thru to 10.15.5 when released? Still waiting for stable release to bring back photos app and large file transfers so still skipping 10.15.4

** OpenCore Mini-Guide has been updated for 0.5.8 **
Now uses graphical OpenCanopy picker
NDK version will come later

Hey @CaseySJ

I just did the OC upgrade from 0.5.7 to 0.5.8. OC 0.5.8 made some changes such as integrated apfs to OC so we don't need apfs driver anymore. Changed Protocol to ProtocolOverrides ..etc
I made some changes to the config.plist according to OC 0.5.8 sample.plist and tweaked it according to our Designare board. I did the sanity check and everything are greenchecked. I've attached the config file. Please take a look to see if it is ok and maybe you can update the config.plist file on the guide.

Hello @srmusico,

Unfortunately we are still seeing the same problem with Antelope audio interfaces. The company really needs to update/revamp their drivers.

Please compress and upload your CLOVER folder. You may remove serial numbers from SMBIOS section of config.plist before uploading.

Hi @nifranza,

I entered the world of Hackintosh in late 2018 with the Designare Z390 running Mojave so as you can guess my experience with 10.11 El Capitan is very thin. Nevertheless:
  • Are Lilu and WhateverGreen supported on 10.11?
  • Is AppleALC supported on 10.11? I've never used AppleHDA. Have you tried VoodooHDA?

Is this recommended for most running z390 Designare and 5700XT users? @CaseySJ
This is entirely optional. Although GeekBench scores are significantly higher, we haven't yet seen comparable gains on real-world applications. I suspect we'll see improved performance on photo editing apps rather than audio or video.

It's actually better to keep WhateverGreen enabled. We lose a few GeekBench points, but we don't lose any video ports.
Do we expect this will be able to be pushed thru to 10.15.5 when released? Still waiting for stable release to bring back photos app and large file transfers so still skipping 10.15.4
Yes the gains should continue with 10.15.5.

Hi Again @CaseySJ

As I have said I have direct contact with the Antelope guys. I have direct mail with RMA and Develop team.
Could be possible if we try to adapt or know what really happens? in my x299 in verbose seems to be detected but the communication seems to be wrong. Failing in sample rate.
If I could help with all the hackintosh that I have and my interfaces (I have some here Apogee, Focusrite,...) could be amazing to solve the situation. Or try to send the reports and problems to these guys. If we report exactly the problem they could fix in future versions...

I have the titan card flashed, lets test it :)

thanks guys!
