[SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

So far, I'm passed our issue. I used files from Catalina 15.1 install guide, and, as of few seconds ago, I at least have a loading bar.
Where are these files? I can't find them.

I guess I will have to try to find old Catalina. While using an older EFI files on new one lets you get to the instalation, but it fails saying error occured while prepairing the instalation.

one last question before I give up on this lol

pmset -g

is you TCPKEEPALIVE 1 or 0?
No problem. I don't mind doing a little more tinkering, but a time will come...
Code:
casey@Caseys-iMac ~ % pmset -g
System-wide power settings:
Currently in use:
standby 1
Sleep On Power Button 1
womp 1
autorestart 0
hibernatefile /var/vm/sleepimage
proximitywake 1
powernap 0
networkoversleep 0
disksleep 10
standbydelayhigh 86400
sleep 1 (sleep prevented by sharingd)
hibernatemode 3
ttyskeepawake 1
displaysleep 10
tcpkeepalive 1
highstandbythreshold 50
standbydelaylow 86400

I did the MSR 0xE2 unlock before begin the installation and my bios is identical to your except for M.I.T ( extreme memory profile ) ---> 1 . I cant see it anywhere so i am not able to change it ... this was similar when i followed u in dec 2018 ... i am still using bios f4 . maybe the problem is on the msr... i tried to change again to 0x0 and now the installation is blocked again( u can see it on the last screenshot)
Are you sure you changed 0x5C1 to 0? The screenshot shows that it's still set to 1.

I did it the first time. But it didn't worked. I tried again and after that I had a 0x00. I repeated my installation and is blocked here.

Please edit your post and un-quote the guide.

Hi @CaseySJ and @jb007,

Well...I jumped too soon :(

The downside of the "ioupsd" is the power daemon (powerd) keeps trying to invoke ioupsd. The only way I saw it (since the high CPU activity doesn't appear on Activity Monitor) was when I looked at top.

So. Back to the drawing board. I'm going to look into how we can do this the correct way.

Stay tuned!

Lam
Thanks for the update @lambusser. I’ll also try and have a look and let us know if you want me to try anything out as I’m here at home 24/7!

CaseySJ, I have no idea how to do that. I removed Word quote from my post. I just click reply not the quote button.

You cannot use your old config.plist if you are installing 10.15.4. You must use config-AMD-GPU.plist that is located in the ZIP file (in the Catalina 10.15.4 Mini Guide) and transfer RtVariables and SMBIOS from your old config.plist into this file. Then rename this file to config.plist. You should do this even if you are upgrading from older macOS to new macOS 10.15.4.

Don't rush. Read every step carefully.

Does liquidctl not work?
Hi @CaseySJ. The problem is the UPS power demon mistakes the Corsair Commander Pro as a UPS Irrespective of whether the USB port HS11/12 is mapped as internal 255 or deleted.
As to why this demon or its parent process is matching only Apple knows. It’s obviously not matching against manufacturers and device ids!
See my original thread here for further info.
