[SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

Hello @CaseySJ,

First of all, thank you for your great guide.

Here is the screenshot.

On the other hand, thinking about this issue, it could be something related to the fact that I am getting the Install Mojave app from macOS Mojave Patcher, because my 2011 macbook Pro doesn't support Mojave natively. Could it be the cause of this issue?

Thank you in advance.
As long as it's the full installer (Mojave is at least 5.7 or 5.8 GB) then it should be okay. Because you have "VirtualSmc.efi" in the drivers folder, do you also have "VirtualSMC.kext" in the CLOVER/kexts/Other folder?

Yes, I have the VirtualSMC.kext file on the Clover/kexts/Other folder.

You might have my answer then! I can only help with the Alpine Card truly but I'd like to try patching it for you.
Sure what would you like from me? I am not sure I backed up the firmware because I am lame like that so if you need the original I might not have it.

Yes, I have the VirtualSMC.kext file on the Clover/kexts/Other folder.
If the option to Boot macOS Mojave from ... does not appear in Clover Boot Menu, then:
  • Shutdown the system and flip power switch on PSU to OFF.
  • Physically remove the Windows NVMe SSD temporarily.
  • Restart the computer with USB Install Disk.
  • Press F12 to bring up the BIOS Boot Menu and select the USB disk.
  • Now what options do you see on the Clover Boot Menu?
  • If you do not see Boot macOS Mojave from ... then re-do the installation by selecting Boot macOS Install from Install MacOS (the USB disk).
  • When the MacOS installer starts, run Disk Utility, and then:
    • Select View --> Show All Devices.
    • Then select parent name of the internal NVMe SSD from the left side of Disk Utility.
    • Do not select any child names.
    • Click Erase.
    • You should see three options:
      • Name:
      • Format:
      • Scheme:
    • If you don't see 3 options, something is wrong.
    • After filling out the 3 options, click Erase to format the disk.
  • Continue with the rest of the installation.

@CaseySJ

Small update. I tested the Apollo over thunderbolt while mixing today and it's feeling great. No hang ups. Great!

I tried moving the card to the PEG slot but there's still no USB.

I'm also using the card with no TB header and all functions are in tact including cold boot.

I'm curious to wether or not I need to find my boards Thunderbolt ROM and implement it somehow. I don't understand that part or if it's even necessary.

Because the card is working (and you can see Thunderbolt Bus) there's no need to inject ThunderboltDROM.

Are you referring to the Asus Thunderbolt EX3?

Yeah, EX3. I should have mentioned that. I haven't gotten my GC-Titan Ridge yet but this is my prep work for it. If my setup isn't relevant to the thread I can back off.

Thank you very much. I will try it during this week, and tell you the results. Thanks for your help

It's relevant -- no worries. But we do need to state what device we're referring to. So far we have:
  • Designare Z390 on-board Titan Ridge
  • GC-Titan Ridge
  • GC-Alpine Ridge
  • Asus Thunderbolt EX3
  • Asus Maximus Extreme on-board Alpine Ridge

Awesome! And for safe keeping here are the files I'm currently using.
