Can you try at 30Hz and see if 6k shows up? That will confirm what I was thinking. 30Hz in general is unusable day to day, but worth a shot to see. To change to 30Hz go to Displays again and hold Option and click Scaled and "Show resolutions" and you will see a Hz drop down menu.

Also give Mac Pro SMBIOS a shot.

Apple may be using Titan Ridge chipset, but they're muxing streams and pushing through the Thunderbolt stream. 6k is much much more data than a single stream of 5k, it's not just an extra 1,000 pixels...

Well, I adjusted my SMBIOS in my config file, got the lovely Memory Modules error you all have been talking about. Still just 5K available. The lowest I can set the refresh rate is 47.95 hz, and still only 5k avail. I tried the other display modes, since the pro display has this menu, but all modes have the same hz options:

Well I'm at a loss. Not sure at this point. It's still worth trying 30Hz for testing sake. Try SwitchResX.

I'm not even sure another GPU like Radeon VII or 5700XT will help.

I still have some faith that it can be done, one of the reasons being that supposedly this device will be able to connect to it using only a single DisplayPort, no thunderbolt.

Ill try SwitchResX.

Yeah most likely it will run at 6k @ 8bit 4:2:0, which DP supports. If you can somehow force that without any adapters, it should work well. It's the 6k @ 10bit thats causing you issues, which is unsupported by DP1.4...but it is supported by DP 2.0, which isn't out yet.

I wonder if you can modify the EDID with an EDID editor to force to 6k @ 8bit?

You can see the bit depth with something like DisplayMaestro.

For example, running on MBP I can see it is running at 8bit.

Nice to see that memory is showing up in System Preferences on your installation. I have a ASUS C422 board and tried the MacPro7,1 SMBIOs but can't see anything about memory in System Preferences at all on Catalina 10.15.2. Don't even have the Memory tab showing up.
Any clue?
You must modify your config.plist :
- PlatformFeature : 0x18 ( or 0x20)

I really understand you

I make video edits of weddings

Wanted to ask you how you enabled gpu acceleration in Premiere w/ the Radeon VII w/ your hackintosh - Not seeing many options for that via Console

No forgiveness necessary! Always happy to read a bit more...

I see you're using the Radeon VII as well, is there a tldr; version to this you could fill me in on? Reading article now...

Actually, so far as I know, there's only one version of the Radeon VII, and all manufacturers, at least recently, use the same firmware for it. No upgrades that I know of. So, whether it's a Gigabyte, Power Color, Sapphire, etc, it's basically the same card, with the same firmware.

So essentially for Premiere, you set the rendering after you start a project, although Metal is always going to be preferred. Sometimes that changes depending on the Premiere version you are using, but 2019 and 2020 are very much the same as it relates to this. Once you've done that, there is a setting in File -> Project Settings -> General that allows you to choose your renderer, if you want to change your renderer. Here's an example from Premiere 2020:

To see what card is installed and recognized by the Adobe software is not wonderful, but in the article it tells you how to do it. You have to use Photoshop, and once Photoshop is up and running, you choose Help -> System Info. Here's mine:
