[SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

@CaseySJ: I want to thank you again for this amazing guide! I built my Hackintosh in July this year with little to no experience only because of the confidence in your guide. It was mid season for me as a wedding photographer, so that says a lot in the confidence I had. But my iMac mid 2011 was near it’s end, so I had to do something. From nearly day one it was my new working machine and I gave it no rest. Did a few supplemental updates without any hiccups, but then kept it as it was because of too much work.

Yesterday it was time for Catalina. With 10.15.2 downloaded and your mini guide it was again a breeze! No hiccups and no problems. Now on 10.15.2 complete with OcQuirks and al, and everything works like a charm. Just like before.

A tip for anyone: read the guide a few lines before you start. Take it step by step, and read carefully. Check afterwards and you will have no problems!

@CaseySJ - Thanks for your effort and guides, this was by far the easiest hack I've built.

Couple of questions - I installed a Fenvi T919 but my system is showing no Bluetooth at all. This card is supposed to provide BT4.0 correct? Is there anything I need to do to enable that?

Also, I've noticed that in order to get audio out, I have to select "Headphone" - Their are two "Line Outs" but neither work. That seems a bit odd to me.

Quick note, because I did this. Make sure the USB from WiFi card is plugged up inside the computer. I changed out GPU and accidentally unplugged mine.

  • What is the make/model of the two 16GB memory modules?
  • Are all 4 memory modules the same make/model?
  • Are you saying that after installing all 4 memory modules, there was no video output when booting?
    • No BIOS splash screen?
    • Monitor just went to power-save mode?
    • Even CMOS Reset did not fix the problem?
    • There are 4 small LEDs on the bottom right side of the motherboard. They should all go OFF if everything is okay. Did any of those LEDs remain on -- especially the one marked DRAM below?

  • Are you on BIOS F6, F7, or F8?
  • After removing 2 of the 4 memory modules, video output came back, but system failed to boot (stopped at End Randomseed)?
    • Did you power down the system and flip power switch on PSU to OFF position (or pull power cable from wall) when insert and removing DIMMs from the motherboard?
  • Do you know which EFI memory driver you're using?
    • OsxAptioFix2Drv-free2000.efi
    • AptioMemoryFix.efi
    • OcQuirks-4.efi + FwRuntimeServices.efi
    • OsxAptioFix3Drv.efi
    • Other
Ok Thanks for your reply. Here is the anwers:
1.The memory is is Corsair LPX 32GB (2x16GB) 3200MHz C16 DDR4 DRAM
2. all 4 memory modules ARE the same
3. No video at all. No bios splash and Monitor just went to power save mode.
3.1CMOS RESET fix the problem when I used a HDMI cable. (I had to remove the video card and use the onboard HDMI, Once the video came back, I inserted the video card again then I could use my Display port cables again)
3.2 Yes for 4 small lads on the Botton. They were all off because I pulled the power cable from the PSU.
4. My bios is F6.
5. I didn't remove 2 modules after the video came back because of the fear of repeating the problem.
6. I followed your guide, so I'm using OsxAptioFix2Drv-free2000.efi.

Now I can only boot with pen drive. I have everything on this machine from August and I can't boot. I appreciate your help.
I attached the EFI (removed the numbers from SMBIOS) but that's all I got.
Thank you!
Fab

Please note that HWMonitorSMC has nothing to do with these readings as values are generated by Apples native Open GL/Metal drivers actually, shipped with the OS. You can read those without HWMonitorSMC from IOReg. These have nothing to do with FakeSMC/VirtualSMC and related stats kexts.
You might be right. HWMonitorSMC2 was (is) showing 0C for my AMD GPU in Catalina, hence this post:
If HWMonitorSMC2 is just reading this information from IOReg, then the fault is likely in the GPU driver.

For all who want to know:
  1. Motu 16a via Thunderbolt works with TB2 to TB3 adapter, which already has been tested but I guess another test isn't bad;
  2. Seagate plus ultra touch 1tb via USB-C/Thunderbolt works with the USB to USB-C adapter which is delivered in the package; and
  3. Sitecom CN524 4.0 Bluetooth USB dongle works.
Just thought after all the help I got especially with my previous build I can help a little. Thanks for this great tutorial @CaseySJ!

Please try the attached CLOVER folder with either 2 or 4 DIMMs installed.

@Isoparm

The Fenvi FV-T919 provides both Bluetooth 4 and WiFi 5 (802.11ac). WiFi data is transferred over PCIe, but Bluetooth data is transferred over USB 2. We only have to connect the supplied Bluetooth cable to F_USB header on motherboard. To connect more than one device to F_USB, we can use either a 2-way or 4-way splitter:
For audio out, we use Layout ID 16 in Clover Configurator --> Devices --> Audio. Buy you may also try Layout IDs:
  • 1
  • 7
  • 27
  • 28
If you have any questions about how to specify Layout ID, please open your config.plist in Clover Configurator and post a screenshot of:

@CaseySJ
"we can use either a 2-way or 4-way splitter"
Thanks. Didn't know that. Just used the usb dongle from my previous build. Maybe order this later. Allthough my build is so clean inside the case. Maybe just leave it this way. ;)

Yes I have that OCD affliction as well!
