[SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

Here are some more devices with their working/not working status. I recently found the time to check these.

WORKING: CalDigit TS3 Plus Thunderbolt 3 Dock

WORKING: StarTech Dual-Bay Drive Enclosure (S252SMTB3) using TB2 -> TB3 adapter

NOT WORKING: LaCie eSATA Hub using TB2 -> TB3 adapter

Additional testing led me to try to check using the TB2 -> TB3 adapter on the working CalDigit TS3 and try to see if the LaCie eSATA Hub would pass through. No luck.

Additional notes: On the CalDigit TS3 Dock I checked all 5Gbps and 10Gbps USB C & A ports. They all connected just fine to my Samsung T5 SSD drive. I did not check the Display Port to see if an additional monitor could be connected to the dock. I'll have to kick my kid off his games some day and see if it will.

Hello, thank you again for opening this very interesting topic.
For my part I always try to use an egpu with this motherboard and MacOs Mojave.
I think the eGPU (Blackmagic 580) is recognized by the Hackintosh because when I remove the hot TB3 connection cable the system tells me that the eGpu was ejected incorrectly !!
My problem is that despite this recognition it is impossible for me to use the graphics card of this eGPU (no more under Windows for that matter). Same thing with the Breakaway eGpu Sonnet 650 ...
Would anyone have any idea of the reasons for this problem?
Thank you in advance ! :)

eGPUs will work on this system, but we have to give up Thunderbolt hot-plug capability. The procedure is as follows:
  • Mount EFI partition of Mojave SSD and move out (or delete) this file from CLOVER/ACPI/patched:
    • SSDT-Z390-DESIGNARE-TB3HP-V4.aml
  • Copy the attached file to the same folder:
    • SSDT-Z390-DESIGNARE-EGPU-NO-HOTPLUG.aml
  • Connect your Thunderbolt devices to the system and power them on.
  • Reboot.
Optional:
  • If eGPU does not activate, make the following change in BIOS:
    • CSM Support --> Enabled

Thank you for the information. Thunderbolt 3 Experiences section has been updated.

So I posted a while ago about my build but have been pretty busy but finally got a stable rig. I had done a few installs due to some hardware swaps and CCC has been invaluable for other issues. However, I think I have a pretty stable machine now and overall very happy! It has taken quite a bit of reading up on the forums and a lot of tinkering.
Glad to hear it!
...
I also got pretty scared of the whole free2000 memory issue and didn't want the possibility of bricking my system (though it seems like it's a pretty unlikely event), so I was happy to finally figure out that I could get AptioMemoryFix.efi working with the Mac19,1 setting and iGPU enabled (with VirtualSMC). I didn't want to do another install to change the system ID, though I know I could probably get away with keeping the same serial numbers and simply switching the ID to MacPro1,1 in SMBIOS.
As a general statement, if AptioMemoryFix works on anyone's system, then it should continue to be used. On my system -- despite many trials -- it fails every time. However, if I remove the Fenvi FV-T919 then AptioMemoryFix works. So I continue to use OsxAptioFix2Drv-free2000.

Thank you very much !! You are the BEST !! I'm very, very happy !!

Another thing !! :) The egpu Radeon 580 is recognize as 480 only ... !? is there another pb ?

I have put "orinoco" as frame buffer and inject ati and the card is now recognize as 580. May be there is a better answer...

On my PowerColor Gaming Station eGPU, the RX 580 is always recognized as a 580 without having to inject ATI or change framebuffer. If you're using the RX580 SSDT (in CLOVER/ACPI/patched) please try removing that. However, if the only solution is to inject Orinoco, then that's okay. But if you upgrade to Catalina next month, try again without Orinoco.

I will try thank you again !!
You can put Blackmagic eGPU on your first page with other devices now ?!! ;)

EDIT : I've tried to remove RX580 SSDT and delete FrameBuffer "Orinoco" and disabled inject ATI and I come back to "480"
