[SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

@CaseySJ
Something which could make it into an update to the post:

ABSOLUTELY
DO NOT
USE
USB HUBS

not really sure why but it kept shutting down and rebooting afte the first "Install Mac OS from Mojave" and never continued further.
Unplugged the Hub (Keyboard was going through it) and I'm finally moving forward (now at "graceful restart")
Bullet #8 of Preflight checklist has been modified to this:

I know, I know...
16 years of Macs and I still do these things :D

@CaseySJ
Plugging the BlackMagic UltraStudio Mini and seeing it appear as a result of TB hot-plug is priceless.
Thanks -- BlackMagic UltraStudio 4K Mini has been added to Thunderbolt 3 Experiences.
do you have a kofi account or something? Do you accept donations?
I'd really love to offer you a coffee, beer, cake whatever :)
Thank you for the sentiment; it's much appreciated! I do this simply as a volunteer, and that's rewarding enough. You're welcome, however, to contribute to the site's operation (top left corner of webpage).

To every kind soul who has offered a beer, let me say most humbly that exotic small-lot coffees are my current weakness. I tend to roast the beans myself. :)

GA-Z77X-UP5-TH as per my build. Probably complicated by the fact that to get Nvme M2 drives to be recognised on boot took a modified BIOS which was found on Tweaktown.

Moments like this I wish I had more knowledge than I do. I’ve literally only compiled my first SSDT for USB ports, days ago, to utilise.

Would you able to point my to a thread / post to do the same as the X99 for the Z77X?
I can try to modify the SSDT from my Asus X99. No guarantees it will work, however, so please set expectations accordingly!

What I need from your system:
  • Download and run MaciASL from here. When you run it for the first time, macOS will complain that it's not from a known developer. Simply go to System Preferences --> Security & Privacy --> General and click the button at the bottom right to launch the app anyway.
  • From the MaciASL --> Preferences... dialog, select the following if not already selected:

  • Then select File --> Export Tableset... and upload the resulting file. (M.2 SSD must be installed.)

Done ... be assured I have a cloned backup drive and will experiment off that drive.

To quote Steve Jobs: One More Thing...
  • Please run IORegistryExplorer, select File --> Save As... and upload that file.

I know I may be asking for the world here but IF times allow can you explain what is being done? Really trying not to be reliant on others by learning. Some things I realiase just may be well beyond my paygrade.

Please try the attached file as follows:
  • Copy the file into the CLOVER/ACPI/patched folder in the EFI partition of your experimental disk, then simply boot from that disk (F12 at BIOS Splash screen).
Based on IOReg, you have a Samsung 970 EVO 500GB NVMe SSD at PCI0.PEG2 (is this the second long x16 PCIe slot?). So the SSDT is adding a new device there called NVME with "built-in" property. This should inform macOS that the NVMe should be treated as an internal disk.

Again, no guarantees this will work, but it is successful on my Asus X99 (Sabrent Rocket NVMe 1TB):

No on the MB there are three full length slots. From top (closest to CPU) to bottom they are x16, x8 and then closest to the bottom a x4 full length PCIe slot. As the M2 doesn't take up more than four lanes I placed the M2 Pcie there.

Still good to go?

Yes, good to go.

PEG numbers begin with 0, so I misspoke. PEG2 is the 3rd long slot.
