Radeon Compatibility Guide - ATI/AMD Graphics Cards

Something we needed for non intel cpu was busratio=32 boot arg. 32= (3.2GHz). 30= (3.0GHz) 50= (5.0GHz) etc... it has to match your base frequency. But again grasping at straws here.

I got confirmation by at least 2 people (non X299) that they have no such issues with HDMI and DP Audio...one is on C602 chipset, another Z370. Something else is going on here.

New Arcturus Vega based cards found in Linux drivers. IDs close to the Navi cards 0x73BB, 0x73BC, Ox73BE.

@jasterlg1,

MacOS has not supported VGA for quite a long time now.

I believe that many users have issues when using native DVI on AMD cards, in most cases using an active DP or HDMI to DVI and/or VGA adapter will work.

Or you could try patching the AMD framebuffer so that the DVI port is defined as a DP port :-

I used an adapter HDMI to VGA, but the result did not change.

Thats very strange, i've used a DP to VGA adapter myself in the past and it worked fine. I think the only caveat is that it must be an 'active' adapter, IE one that has a chip in it to do the signal conversion.

@jasterlg1,

GPU support is dictated by MacOS version .. not by CPU Generation.

Radeon 7000 series GPU's work on MacOS version 10.8.3 onwards ...

hey hai I wanna install sierra now and I wanna upgrade to Mojave later, so is there an AMD GPU that supports both sierra and Mojave?

@Reghuram,

Radeon RX 460 / 560
Radeon RX 470 / 570
Radeon RX 480 / 580

All of the above are good, mid range GPU's that work well with in MacOS Sierra, High Sierra and Mojave
Best to avoid XFX banded cards as some of them use a non standard VBIOS.

If you need more GPU power then consider getting Radeon Pro Vega 56 or 64 ... these are a good buy right now as they have seen a recent price drop due to them being superseded by the new Radeon 5700 series cards.

The most powerful AMD GPU that is supported in MacOS right now is Radeon VII (Mojave only)

The new Radeon 5700 and 5700 XT GPUs's are not yet supported in Mojave but might be in a future Mojave update and will almost certainly be supported in the public release of Catalina coming in September.

Cheers

thank you for your reply, and is there any architecture I should be aware of? or should avoid a certain architecture?

Hello, everybody.
I have High Sierra on my PC. Now it's time to upgrade to Mojave. I just realized that I have to replace my VC Nvidia by anything from AMD.
There's just something that bothers me. I need 2 HDMI on my videcard.
Is there a problems on hackintosh OS with AMD RX 5xx videocards with 2 HDMI-out?
