Step 4:
Select the existing config.plist in the EFI/CLOVER folder. Don't worry, Hackintool will backup the existing file and insert the patch in a non-destructive manner.

Step 5:
In Clover Configurator open the modified config.plist and ensure that all entries in the Graphics page are empty.

Reboot.

Hi CaseySJ,
on my installtion the Hackintool does not create the patch. It is only an empty XML envelope.
Can you send me the patch?
Thanks

It would be good to double-check the change made to the SSDT and to check that only 1 USB SSDT is in the CLOVER/ACPI/patched folder.

It would also be good to run IORegistryExplorer and scroll down to XHC on the left side panel to make sure that H115i is connected to HS11.

And yet another diagnostic step is to run this Terminal command immediately after wake from sleep:
  • pmset -g log | tail -100 > ~/Documents/WakeProblem.txt
This will generate a file called WakeProblem.txt in the Documents folder. Please upload that file.

And lastly...

If the USB connection is not strictly necessary -- if it is only used to monitor and manually control pump speed -- then there are two options:
  1. Remove device HS11 from the USB SSDT. As a result, the pump will not appear in macOS and will therefore not interfere with sleep. But it will continue to work under Windows.
  2. Disconnect H115i from the F_USB header.
I believe others are using the Corsair H115i successfully with this build -- no interference with sleep. So it would be good to search this site and the web in general for other users' experiences.

Attached are the files. I have a 2 port USB splitter on F_USB Header for the front panel and the H115i, so I believe its necessary if I want those devices hooked up correct?, especially the front panel usb ports. I searched for 115i fixes and they said custom boot files, so I'm trying to figure that out, never listed an exact fix without actually unplugging device than I need to plug it back in for windows, not an option.

Have you updated the firmware on the Samsung 970 EVO Plus using Samsung's "Magician" software in Windows? Without latest firmware, the EVO Plus disk will absolutely fail under macOS.

Hi CaseSJ,

I haven't update it yet. I just purchased it last Sunday. I am not sure if it is using latest software. I will try this method. Thanks for your advice.

By the way, just wondering if this EVO Plus SSD (NVMe) will affect the macOS even it is just sit in the M2M slot without Windows or anything in it. (I did initialize it in macOS to GUID with MS-DOS format.)

  • Was this a fresh installation of Mojave on the Designare motherboard? Or was the SDD from a previous Hackintosh moved over to the Designare?
  • In the root level of your EFI disk, do you have a file called nvram.plist as shown:
    View attachment 414506
  • Let's try the "pmset" log again, as follows:
    • From Apple menu, select "Sleep"
    • Does the computer refuse to sleep?
    • Or does it sleep and then wake up automatically after a few seconds?
    • When it wakes up, open Terminaland type this:
      • pmset -g log | tail -150 > ~Documents/SleepTest2.txt
    • Then upload the file SleepTest2.txt from the Documents folder.
  • Lastly, please run IORegistryExplorer and select File --> Save As... then upload the file.
  • Yes, it was a fresh installation on the designare motherboard
  • Yes, nvram.plist is there
  • Computer sleeps and then wakes up automatically after a few seconds

Could anyone post their working 10.14.5 QuickSync enabled config.plist or stripped EFI folder?

I'm having trouble getting the green line to move, and BruceX exports are still around 20 seconds with the Z390 Designare, 9900K @4.90GHz, and a Sapphire Vega64 8GB Nitro+. To be fair, in the situations where the acceleration for FCPX seems to be missing, running a Sony 4K sample does move the green iGPU line to 450MHz.

I tried with and without WEG, SMBIOS iMac19,1 and iMacPro1,1, but to no avail. I'm lost in getting the Device Properties set up properly, as there is much conficting information to be found. Using Hackingtool doesn't provide the proper acceleration either, it seems.

Please see post #5413.

I think it's also a good idea to install macOS 10.14.5 fresh on a spare SSD in a USB external enclosure. 256GB SSDs are very cheap and provide an excellent sandbox in which to experiment. The SSD can also be used as a bootable backup disk or even to try macOS Catalina. So it's a good investment.
I was thinking of getting a Samsung 970 EVO M.2.and cloning my current system to it. Then I could use the current SSD as a test drive.
I have a 6x drive power switch so I can power off my Mac drives when using Windows and vice versa.
(I had a bad experience of data loss caused by Windows /Paragon software)

Would I be able to:
A. Completely hide the M.2 system drive from Windows?
B. Successfully clone my current system to the M.2?

Hello @hhorch65,

After selecting the various checkboxes shown in the screenshot and clicking Generate Patch, you must then select File --> Export --> Bootloader config.plist. In the dialog box that appears, navigate to your config.plist file in the EFI/CLOVER folder (you must mount the EFI partition of your Mojave SSD ahead of time).

Just click on your config.plist. Hackintool will show the file in gray and will not highlight the file when you click on it. But that is okay. Just click on the gray file name anyway and click Save.

Then run Clover Configurator and open your config.plist. Go to Devices --> Properties and you should see the changes. Post a screenshot of this if you like.

The pmset log suggests that TeamViewer activity may have triggered the wake from sleep. Can you temporarily quit TeamViewer and test sleep?

Regarding the USB splitter:
  • The best way to share the internal F_USB header between internal and external USB devices is to purchase a 1-to-4 version of the splitter such as this one.
  • These 4-way splitters are amazing because:
    • Two of the USB connectors are assigned to HS11 and the other two USB connectors are assigned to HS12.
  • This allows you to connect 2 internal USB devices to either HS11 or HS12, and keep it separate from external USB devices.
  • Let's say you use HS11 for internal devices. Then we set the port type to 255 (0xFF) for HS11. And we set the port type to 0 for HS12.

It sounds strange but just having the non-updated EVO Plus in the system may be a problem (for macOS). Please see what happens when you physically remove this.

We should investigate the two highlighted sleep/wake assertions in red and green.
  • Red: Run Activity Monitor and look for backupd-helper. Do you recognize this process? Try force-quitting the process and then test whether sleep works.
  • Green: I noticed this yesterday ("Handoff") so I asked whether any iOS devices were awake and nearby that would invoke Handoff. Try disabling Handoff temporarily from:
    • System Preferences --> General --> Allow Handoff between this Mac and your iCloud devices.
