[SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

Haven't tried the DP port. That shouldn't matter with acceleration though, should it? Those settings didn't do anything except cause the graphics and the screen to wig out.
There is a potential problem with the RX580 where HDMI and DVI will work, but not DP. This means that an incompatible framebuffer (display driver) has been attached to the card, which can also impede H.264 and HEVC.

At this point all I can say is:
  • Test whether DP port works.
  • Search this website or Google using appropriate keywords such as "RX580 no acceleration" or "RX580 no H.264 HEVC", etc.
  • A fresh installation is also an option, but of course it can be time consuming...

Hi Casey; I tried your suggestion with CSM support off, but I get no output on the DP of the RX580; which is not really a problem because I will not use that one.
So the only thing bugging me is that the UHD630 DP port goes in to 'matte' mode the moment I see the Apple logo appear after the initial verbose text ups by; then after the apple logo, the desktop also appears in this matte mode; Oh well; the RX580 works like a charm on the DVI output, so I guess that is fine. :)
Before giving up on the RX580 DisplayPort, please turn CSM Support back on and then make these 2 changes:

Just want to make sure something even worse is not going to cause problems in the future...

@CaseySJ - First up just want to thank you for a great guide. I've been at this a while but there was some great stuff in here that helped me get TB3 hot swap and pretty much all the USB working for this board :) Awesome.

One question / issue I have - When I plug anything into the front USBC 3.1 port on the front of my case a lot of the rear USB connections disconnect. I'm using a 3.1 / C device (I know the USB2.0 is disabled for this port). Is this something you've come across? Or do I need to edit my DSDT?

I've searched this thread and trawled it before posting this - Any help would be great :)
Glad to hear it! Well, except for the front USB-C port...

Are you using the standard version of the USB SSDT? SSDT-UIAC-DESIGNARE-Z390-V7.aml

:)

... and yes I am. Current state of ACPI folder is attached.

I'm wondering if it's any of my USB settings in config. Also attached.

Would a fresh install fix the issue?

There’s no guarantee. It’s better to test DP if possible, but certainly one should search this site and the web in general. There is a lot of helpful information online.

The suggestions I made were based on other posts and threads on this site. You might find other important clues.

A reinstallation of the OS is still a sensible idea, but searching the web first is always more prudent.

Is there something wrong with the graphics card, its the same one that everyone else has. I'll try a reinstall and see what happens.

Which specific device are you connecting to the front USB-C port? If you connect a simple flash disk, does the same problem occur?

Please also run IORegistryExplorer and select File —> Save As... Then upload that file. If you can do this twice (once before connecting USB-C device and once after) that would be best.

The only thing that jumps out is that it’s an OC model. Most people have the standard one.

After reinstallation, it fixed it.
