[SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

Only I have a problem of self-waking up system in 30 second after sleep?
Several quick things to try first:
  • Run Terminal and provide the output from these commands immediately aftercomputer wakes from sleep:
    • pmset -g
    • pmset -g assertions
  • What USB devices are currently installed inside and outsidethe system?
    • Do you have any USB devices connected to interior F_USB header?
    • Do you have any USB devices connected to any USB ports? USB keyboard and mouse are okay.
    • Try disconnecting all USB devices (except keyboard and mouse) to see if system stays asleep.
      • Then reconnect one USB device at a time and test sleep. If okay, reconnect the next USB device, etc. This can identify the faulty USB device (if USB devices are causing sleep problem).
  • Disconnect all Thunderbolt devices and test sleep.
  • Run IORegistryExplorer and select File --> Save As...and upload the saved file.
    • This file can tell us whether USB ports have been configured properly with the SSDT and USBInjectAll.

"The decision to invest in purchasing, assembling, and configuring our Designare Z390 Hackintosh has been vindicated"

My feelings, exactly !! you nailed it.

  • Please note that you have not provided the output from pmset -g.
  • Have you tried disconnecting all USB devices except keyboard and mouse?
    • Disconnect Logitech webcam and Wacom PTK-640.
    • Disconnect the 4-port USB hub attached to the black USB port on the back.
      • Connect keyboard and mouse directly to the USB 2 ports or connect your mouse to the USB port on your keyboard. Your keyboard has a USB hub inside.
  • There is a Thermaltake Titanium Digital Power Supply connected to the internal F_USB header.
    • Disconnect this device and see if your system can sleep.

A question about your script to include the EFI partition in a CCC clone of the system drive.

Many people say you can copy and paste the EFI folder to the ESP of the cloned drive created by CCC. Is that going to work as well as adding the script, EFIClone-v2.sh to run within CCC ?

When we specify the source and destination disks in CCC, it claims that the destination disk should be bootable. This can be seen in the first screenshot of Easy Bootable Backup. But it turns out that the entire EFI folder is not copied from source to destination. CCC does not appear to clone the ESPs of source and destination drives.

We can manually mount the two ESPs and drag-and-drop the EFI folder across. I was doing this for many months, but the EFIClone-v2 script now does it automatically, leading to a true one-button backup process.

There is something to note, however. The destination ESP will be completely replaced by the source ESP. Any previous version of CLOVER on the destination ESP will be deleted.

After a fair bit of tinkering, SMBIOS iMac19,1 works perfectly as confirmed by Hackintool (VDA Decoder) and VideoProc with Platform ID 0x3E980003 and Device ID 0x3E98.

If you're on Macmini8,1, it may be necessary to contemplate the change to iMac19,1. This means deauthorizing existing software licenses (as much as possible), signing out of iCloud, then changing SMBIOS to iMac19,1 (which provides new serial numbers), and copying the new Board Serial Number from SMBIOS and pasting it into MLB in RtVariables.

After a reboot, software and plug-ins may need to be relicensed.

Before doing this, make a full bootable backup of the existing system. The procedure is now in the main guide, just under Going the Extra Mile.

Hi @CaseySJ, I followed your guide couple months ago to install my first Hackintosh. I also updated it as you made some updates. Last week I tried to change to iMac19,1 but I get kernel panic. The Hackintosh was good and stable with either iMac18,3 or iMacPro1,1 or MacMini8,1. But when I change to iMac19,1 I get the panic.
I've attached couple screenshots of the log. Appologies for the quality.
From the log it's not quite clear to me what is the cause of the panic. Is it the failed to get apfs volume keybag error? Or is it something else?
Can you help please? :)

Why doesn't Bombich software fix this so that it's done automatically ? Is it because Macs don't have anything important to the booting process on the ESP ?

I’ve been able to make bootable backups with CCC on both of my real Macs (a 2008 Mac Pro and a 2012 MacBook Air) without having to use EFI-Clone or any other post-install script.

As I understand, real Macs don’t need “bootx64.efi” (in the EFI/BOOT folder) because the equivalent boot loader is built into their firmware.

Hello @hitch21,

Several questions to better understand your situation:
  • When you switched to iMac19,1 did you use the pop-up menu in SMBIOS shown in the image below?
  • Did you subsequently use the new serial numbers provided by Clover Configurator or paste the old serial numbers back in? (It's better to use the new numbers.)

  • Did you also copy the new Board Serial Number into the RtVariables --> MLB field?
  • If you switch back to Macmini8,1 now, does it boot up?
