[SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

...
One more question, I have Little Snitch in my older Mac (Sierra). Can I install it in this one?
I'm running Little Snitch on my hackintoshs as well as my Macs.

I would strongly advise against switching to the KGP FakeSMC at this time. Someone encountered a problem recently and I may delete them from the build guide.

You can certainly install the standard FakeSMC just by itself and then install its associated sensor kexts one at a time.

If you are using any of the PCIe x1 slots, I would also recommend copying the SSDT-DESIGNARE-Z390-NO-CNVW.aml to the CLOVER/ACPI/patched folder. Although you have the AORUS Xtreme, this SSDT should still work; its purpose is to render the Intel CNVi WiFi/BT module invisible to macOS. This in turn allows Broadcom WiFi/BT cards to function properly.
I found my crazy clicking to be the high end audio components on motherboard if I disable on board audio no clicking arcing sound. I have Motu 1248 and hdmi audio so I’m ok without it but would like like to know the cause

Hi CaseySJ!
About two months ago I built a hackintosh using almost same specs as you (my cpu is 9900k and my RX580 is from Sapphire). I went through your amazing guide and everything worked fine. I also had to put my igpu in headless mode so I could render things using Adobe Premiere Pro and Adobe Media Encoder.

Today I tried to update for 10.14.4. Things were going good, same as you related in page #270 here. But now when my system boots, after Apple Logo screen and a fully filled loading bar, my screens gets black. It seems everything is running but I can't see nothing. I'm using my displays plugged in DP port and HMDI port of RX580.

I've also tried to boot in verbose mode but I get no error over there and also get black screen.

Do you have any idea of what went wrong?

Thank you

There can be a number of factors affecting this, but please start with the following:
Additionally, please search the forum for “RX580 black screen”. If I find something more specific I’ll reply here.

What is the make/model of your RX580?

This is really quite strange, but glad you isolated the problem. I wonder if this is due to a conflict with something else in the system, or if there’s a defect...

Just to make this clear for anyone that has a VEGA 56, VEGA 64 or VEGA FRONTIER: Your best option is SMBIOS iMacPro1,1, and there is no need for any headless iGPU configuration at all. You will not need your iGPU at all, because your Vega ist just much faster! Don’t slow down your system by using a configuration that is made for a much weaker GPU! Don’t use iMac 18,1, iMac 18,3 or macMini or whatever. Use iMacPro1,1, if you have Vega 56, 64 or Frontier. Using the iMacPro SMBIOS there is NO NEED to have iGPU enabled for hardware acceleration and proper Final Cut encoding at all. The iMac Pro doesn’t have an iGPU either! Just use WhateverGreen and Lilu (and a good PowerPlayTable for fan behavior of your Vega) and you’re done!

So... I’m stuck at the same place now even after installing 10.14.4 - clover configurator doesn’t show a macmini8,1. The highest it goes is 7,1. I’m on clover config v4.42.1 and your guide says 5.3.2.0 or later. I don’t see a version later than 4.42.1. Thoughts?

Mine is Sapphire 11265-05-20G Radeon Pulse RX 580 8GB

I'll do the search here too

thank you
Please keep us posted if you find a solution. Some additional comments:
  • Do you have the latest Lilu and WhateverGreen installed? New versions were released about a week ago.
  • Do you have iGPU enabled in BIOS?
  • What ig-platform-id are you using? Are you injecting this in Devices --> Properties?
  • In Clover Configurator, are all settings in "Graphics" left empty and unchecked?
Beyond this there are a number of threads in this forum discussing a variety of RX 580 black screen issues. Injecting "Orinoco" framebuffer is controversial, but still worth a try as described in my previous reply.
