So, I just 'inherited' this laptop, and wondering what to do with it. Is it worth hackintoshing it please? I have a 2015 MBP 15" and a 2018 Lenovo Yoga X1 3rd gen.
After Mojave 10.14.2 update AppleHDA.kext won't load. I have High Sierra 10.13.6 on second partition and it won't load there as well.
I've tried EC reset but this time it didn't help get audio back. I uninstalled windows few months ago. Codec is ALC288.Did you do EC reset?
Did you check in Windows to see if audio working there?
What audio codec do you have? (check Linux audio codec dump).

Do I need make first NTFS partition and then install windows? I don't want to screw my existing 2 macOS partitions.Windows is easy to install.

Thank you for your guidance! I've installed windows 10 back and audio works there fine. On High Sierra 10.13.6 and Mojave 10.14.2 still audio codec undetectable.Refer to post #2 of the guide:
