For anyone still having this problem please try NullCPUPowerManagement (put it in the other kext folder). It worked for me!

I’m also having the “MACH Reboot” issue. I tried dropped DMAR and MATS tables together and one after the other to no avail. Trying to direct update from 10.13 to 10.13.1.

This actually got me to a different error (can't remember which one) so I thought "why not put the all the kexts from the 10.13 folder in the other folder as well" and it worked. Thanks!

I just got this resolved on my primary Hack. i7 3770K z77x-UD5H board. In Clover I just clicked on Clover boot options, went into drop tables and checked off the MATS options. I returned and hit enter. Finally got to the installer and installed properly. It did restart a few times to complete the install but I needed to do the same Clover...MATS option again. Once it finalized and did the complete update and downloaded the most current Clover editor and edited my Config.plist.

Good Luck!

Thank you, that did it for me! - Now says 41 minutes remaining to update - I'll post an edit when/if it completes :)

Edit: It got to 21 minutes left and was stuck for ages. It has been 30 minutes since then and it's showing 17 minutes left. hope it completes! - Maybe this is because it is converting HFS to AFS?

Edit2: No go, on reboot, it is just showing boot0af: errror on a black screen. Clover does not come up :(

Edit3: I managed to boot using UniBeast and install MultiBeast. Now Clover is back, but back to the black screen kernel panic. This time, ticking the MATS option doesn't help :( - this is the panic, any ideas?

Edit4: After spending hours, I couldn't get it to work so I did a format and a clean re-install following these instructions:
  1. Have a USB keyboard/mouse handy for installation
  2. Disconnect all drives except Mac boot drive
  3. Boot from Unibeast 8.1.0
  4. In options remove disable_nv=0 and add -v to see boot process
  5. Follow on screen instructions, installer reboots after just a few minutes
  6. On next boot, set same options as above
  7. Select macOS install from "partition title", will show black screen with Installing, about 11 minutes remaining.
  8. Download and install Multibeast -> quick start -> UEFI mode defaults
    1. Audio > Realtek ALCxxx > ALC898
    2. Network > Atheros
    3. Network > Intel > AppleIntelE1000e
Only other thing is when booting I need to select "drop MATS" every time, but otherwise everything seems to work fantastic!

I have been struggling with this MACH Reboot error for a few days, and it was super frustrating. I tried literally everything recommended in this thread and others, and even re-installed OS X. I could boot to Recovery mode and into my USB installer but that was it. I could not boot to my main partition using the USB installer.

Finally I found the solution, and I wanted to post it in case anyone else had the same problem. I needed to delete FakeSMC.kext from System/Library/Extensions. I don’t know how it got there in the first place but that was all it took to fix something that nearly drove me insane!

4) booted in verbose mode (-v), saw it was stuck at MACH REBOOT
5) Updated Clover Configurator (as @itwas noted, newer version allows dropping MATS table)

i am stuck at your step 4. could you please explain how you get from step4 to step5? i am currently stuck at the clover boot menu and couldn't go in any system. therefore i can not use clover configurator to edit the config.plist

At Clover Boot Screen select Options > ACPI Patching > Tables dropping > Drop MATS or BGRT
