Enabling AMD RX 4XX cards in Sierra.

No, I thought it was supported out of box. I will try disconnecting the card and let you know. Thank you.
Bought Saphire Nitro RX480 8GB for my hack but about to give up. Wanting to move my GTX 960 to the family computer so I bought the RX480 after seeing some positives with respect to native support. However, it doesn't work for me. I don't have a graphics device in my mobo BTW. Modified the X4100 kext as described. The system boots and my screen goes blank just at the point where I should see the desktop. My system runs fine using 10.12.1 and the GTX 960. Do I have to have an IGPU for it to work at all? Clover sees my RX480 just fine BTW. Any pointers?

If you have an extra pcie slot you can use a AMD or Nvidia "native card" to get support. I've tested with a Nvidia 8400gs $40 US, and a AMD 5450 $35 US. Place a supported card in the pcie 1 slot and the RX in the #2 slot. I use dedicated graphics and disable the igpu and get support. Performance is slightly less than with good metal support with an igpu setup but it works pretty good and will run benchmarks. The better the native card the better performance you will get out of RX. The R9 270x or HD 7XXX works better than the 5450 but it requires more power supply 2 6pin, whereas the 5450 is powered by the pcie slot. This is from my Pentium G3258 as a Mac Pro 6.1.

Ok swapped GTX 960 and RX480 slots so that the latter is in slot 2. Holy cow Gigamaxx you are right! It works. Now I will try to salvage an old GPU from my pile of parts and see if we can get that operational. Thank you Ademir Gouvea for the added confidence. Probably saved me sending the card back.

UPDATE: Swapped GTX 960 for an old Nvidia Geforce 9300GE I had laying around. Disabled nvidia web drivers and injected nvidia and the RX480 works. Sleep/wake works also. Project done. Thanks all.

New question: Shouldn't the modified 4100.kext be placed in EFI/kexts clover directory instead of S/L/E?

Can you post a UNINGINE VALLEY EXTREME HD benchmark? I would love to see one from a Xeon 6 core.

Hello Friend I still have not got the time to pass the Benchmark you requested. For now I only have Cinebench here, but as soon as I get the results ... The Processor is a 5820k ...

You can try it, but for me the easiest way to get the support is to modify the 4100kext and leave it there. After updates, just redo the mod it takes about 2-4 minutes total for me after doing it so many times. If you find a way that works please share your method and results.

Placing the FakeSMCKext in clover kext folders requires a lot of modifying to the FakeSMCkext by adding applegraphicsdevicepolicy kext (a smal, part of it), AMD9500controllerkext, and 4100kext into the FakeSMCkext, and then placing in the clover kext folder. It's a lot of work to get it right, and then if you're in Beta and a week later they change the version ID # you have to do it all over again, because it's no longer a compatible version. If you're using the public release of 12.2.1 it may be worth it, but the betas change weekly and that gets to be a problem.

Somebody reported placing the kexts in clover kext to load section to get support, I tried briefly to repeat the described process but had no acceleration.

should I get rx 480 8gb xfx multi fan model will it surely work please suggest will u guys help me if I get it and can I couple it with hd 6870 and is it working in crossfire with another rx480 please suggest

is it working in crossfire with another rx480
No, Crossfire is not supported in OS X / macOS.

With Sierra AMD cards suffer from a black screen after sleep, do your research carefully before committing to purchase.

I don't care about sleep as I don't need that feature ..but can I use rx 480 in first slot and hd 6870 in second will it make any difference performance wise
