Layman's guide to access Mac App Store with NullEthernet.kext

Hello together,

I'm sorry to ask about the procedure again.
I have a Dell Inspiron 13 7347 with a haswell i54210U processor running Mac OX 10.10.1 and Chameleon. Unfortunately, this notebook does not have a build-in ethernet card and the wireless card is not supported.
But internet is working great with a wlan usb stick TL-WN823N with rtl8192cu chipset.

To get itunes running I installed NullEthernet.kext and used the SSDT method. I have an SSDT.aml file in the Extra directory with a randomized mac address (attached).
But the kext seems not to be loaded.
I can't see it as loaded with Kext wizard and when I want to add a ethernet network card, this option is not available in system settings -> network (deleted NetworkInterfaces.plist and rebooted before). I can only add my wireless usb stick (or VPN, ..).

When I try to load the kext with kextload I see the following in the system.log:

kext-dev-mode allowing invalid signature -67062 0xFFFFFFFFFFFEFA0A for kext "/System/Library/Extensions/NullEthernetInjector.kext"

Does anybody have an idea what's wrong?

You do not use NullEthernetInjector.kext with DSDT or SSDT method.

Sounds like you didn't install NullEthernet.kext.

This fixed the issue for me. It works perfectly. Thanks so much for posting it!

I'm trying to get this working with the NullEthernetInjector method. I have both kexts installed. I believe I've made the correct edits to the iopcimatch, and I've removed all devices and the networkinterfaces.plist file; but I've never been able to get the nullethernet device to show up as a network interface I can add. How do I start troubleshooting this?

Post your NullEthernetInjector.kext.

RehabMan, I've run through this guide in Yosemite and run sudo nvram boot-args="kext-dev-mode=1" to sign the kexts, but I still don't have ethernet showing up under my network options. I know this is an old thread, but in the chance you see it, do you have any ideas?

Nevermind. Ran through it several times in frustration and suddenly it works. I must have been doing something wrong. Thanks for such an awesome tool, didn't think I'd ever get the app store working on this machine.

Huh, nevermind again. Ethernet is available and connected but I still can't access the app store or messages. Oh well.

Deleted network preferences once more and rebooted fixed the problem. All working perfectly now.

Thanks again, I've been searching for a solution to this problem for years.

Hello!
I'm also trying the injector method, but I have to be honest: I've no idea what I'm doing.

The thing is, I'm not sure this is the right method for me... and if it is, I really don't know how to edit the IOPCIMatch, nor how to change the MAC-address property.... :/ please help??

I have a BCM94360CS2 wifi + bluetooth PCI card.
In my network prefs I can see a PCI Ethernet Slot option.
I'm running a GA-z97x-ud7 th mother board.

I thought so too, since I have an onboard ethernet port..... but I've tried pretty much everything else. I've installed the AppleIntelE1000 kext (As well as every other ethernet kext I've seen). I've had a "PCI Ethernet Slot" listed as en0 on my system report, I deleted the system prefs> network configurations, etc...

I still can't access the AppStore.... :(

I'll post the IOReg later today, thank you so much!
