My USB sound was working fine before 10.12.4 and I'd love to try that kext in it now..

Did you not make a backup of your system before updating it to 10.12.4?

By now it's been replaced by newer backups. After a few days I assumed I'd be able to fix it as usual.

Though, I've since found out that Apple's been blowing up USB Headset drivers for a while. This is my third set and finally they messed up the Plantronics drivers it seems. The Apple support forums are full of people complaining about this on their Macs
