Hey everyone!
I have a weird issue coming up with my desktop build. For some reason, the USB 3 slots are not functioning properly. I can use them as USB 2 slots and for anything that's low power (charging things, bluetooth, pro tools iLok, etc.), but when I try to plug a USB 3 drive in, the read/write time is SUPER slow. Any ideas on what might be causing this and how I can fix it?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!
Here are my specs:
Running OS 10.9.5
Motherboard:
GIGABYTE GA-X79-UP4 LGA2011/ Intel X79/ DDR3/ 4-Way CrossFireX&4-Way SLI/ SATA3&USB3.0/A&GbE/ ATX
Processor:
Intel Core i7-3930K Hexa-Core Processor 3.2 Ghz 12 MB Cache LGA 2011 - BX80619I73930K
Case:
Fractal Design Define R4 Cases, Black Pearl (FD-CA-DEF-R4-BL)
Ram:
Crucial Ballistix Tactical Low Profile 32GB Kit (8GBx4) DDR3-1600 1.35V UDIMM 240-Pin Memory Modules BLT4C8G3D1608ET3LX0
Startup Disk:
SAMSUNG 840 EVO MZ-7TE250BW 2.5" 250GB SATA 6Gb/s TLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)
WiFi:
TP-LINK TL-WDN4800 Dual Band Wireless N900 PCI Express Adapter, 2.4GHz 450Mbps/5GHz 450Mbps, IEEE 802.1a/b/g/n, WEP/WPA/WPA2
Storage (x2):
SAMSUNG 840 EVO MZ-7TE250BW 2.5" 250GB SATA 6Gb/s TLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)
Storage (x1):
Seagate 2TB BarraCuda SATA 6Gb/s 64MB Cache 3.5-Inch Internal Hard Drive (ST2000DM006)
PSU:
Seasonic X-460 FL
Additionally, can anyone recommend a Thunderbolt card for this setup? I'm thinking it might be useful to have in case I opt for a thunderbolt drive instead of using the USB 3 slots on the motherboard.
Thanks so much!
Matt
