hi folks,

I'm trying to get onboard USB 3.0 for my ASUS X99-A / USB 3.1. I've tried a bunch of different things but still can't get it working properly. My wall-powered USB hard drive doesn't show up. I've attached my EFI folder for reference. Can someone please help? Thanks.

Hello,

According to your SSDT you only have 3x Intel XHCI USB3.0 ports enabled - SS01, SS05 & SS06. From the file we can't see where those are physically located but any USB 3.0 device plugged-in anywhere else might not always show up because ...

Your motherboard looks to feature 5x back-panel ports controlled by an ASMedia chipset. This is a 3rd party add-on chip.

To get those working try GenericUSBXHCI.kext. This is no longer actively developed but might do the trick because it was designed for this chip.

Remove FakePCIID_XHCIMux.kext and test again - unless you had a specific reason to include it (?)

While doing these tests use IORegistryExplorer to check where on the XHC and PR parts of the tree those ports appear

(Remember to back-up your EFI etc before testing - just in case of problems)

:)
