I successfully set up a new Hackintosh after years of using Apple products and want to share my experience with you.

I cloned my iMac 10.11.6 system with Carbon Copy Cloner (CCC) to an SSD, put it in my PC and used UniBeast with Clover and with FakeCPUID to boot up. After it booted, I used MultiBeast with Intel network drivers and set up the Intel Hd630 graphics. Sound is irrelevant since I use an audio interface.

I experimented a little bit getting the 1080TI to run but with only 1280px. Installed the NVIDIA Web drivers without success though other users reported it worked for them with a 1070 e.g. HD630 runs smooth at 2560px and with 144fps.

Thunderbolt worked right out of the box with my Apollo Twin MKII yesterday. But this morning it wouldn't start up, even after starting windows first and using the Apollo. ***FIXED*** I had to use my old Networkinterfaces.plist where thunderbolt was integrated though you couldn't see it in system settings.

And one problem still is iMessage and iCloud of course. I got iPhoto running and syncing with my iCloud by using a higher plan and downgraded instantly via iCloud settings. But iMessage won't work for me. Tried several tutorials already setting up Serials and System ID. Maybe somebody has a tip for me regarding this.

One last thing is the USB connectivity. After starting up it takes like a few minutes to have the inputs lag free. Tried with apple keyboards, different ports etc. already.

I will try to collect all tutorials I used to get here and post them in a few days probably when I have some time to spare.

So my next tasks are:

- iMessage login problem
- USB lag fix after boot
- getting the 1080ti to run without having to change cables to hd630

Any Tipps appreciated.

If you have any questions regarding the build please let me know and I will try to help wherever I can.

I have an almost identical setup to you (same mb, cpu, ram), and have found that to get around the peculiar USB lag, I had to make sure devices were connected into ports that they seemed 'comfortable' with. As odd as it sounds, through trial and error I found that keyboard and mouse (mine are usb 2) operated best using a usb2 header, a usb3 hub through the usb 3.1 (red) port and external hdd's (usb3) through remaining usb 3 ports. Try swapping them around to see what works best for you. I think it mostly seems to run most comfortably using 'native' usb ports and busses for the device (rather than trying to 'host' a usb2 device on a usb3 bus, or something to that effect).

Conversely, I've been having no end of trouble with getting Thunderbolt comfortably working - I'm running an Antelope Orion Studio that's just not being recognised, despite a fully usable Blackmagic Mini Recorder on Thunderbolt. Is your Networkinterfaces.plist taken from your iMac?

Like you, though, I can use iCloud and iPhoto, but no iMessage - I also tried some of the tutorials, but didn't have success, then stopped prattling around with it through fear of getting my account blacklisted!

It is a very good gaming rig and I want to build something very simillar but maybe with Aorus GTX 1080 ti instead.I need to know if you got your 1080 ti to run without problems? And what about the built in audio ? Did you get it to work as well? Thx

Yes, indeed it is. Though i'm not sure anymore if this was the problem, since i don't see any Thunderbolt connection in the Network Preferences Pane anymore though my audio interface is connected and running. It seems to me to be randomly working after every restart. Sometimes it works like a few times with every restart, sometimes i have to power down the PC completely. I have to try if the TB adapter has to be "activated" by booting windows first.

No, unfortunately not. I use the HD630 Intel Graphics of my board.
I didn't try native Audio since i use an external Thunderbolt Audio Interface.

hansi32 any luck with the ti in iOS yet? I know that there are new drivers there therefore I want to double check if they work. I am just about to order my Aorus 1080 ti and I think it should work nice with z270X G 7 from the same edition.

As mentioned above by Stork there are NVIDIA drivers for the 1080TI, but only for Sierra. I had no luck trying to get the 1080 running under El Capitan.

The GTX 1080 Ti will work with Sierra 10.12.4 and the new/latest Nvidia Mac drivers. See NVIDIA 'Pascal' Graphics Drivers Released: Buyer's Guide Updated!

Is there any particular reason why you are not using Sierra though? I am asking because I always like to have the latest realises.I have been also going through threads comparing other models of Z270x and found out that Sierra did installed and worked fine on Sierra so maybe you should try it out and see if your Ti would fire up there? I did also find out that gaming 5 is a bit more iOS friendly because the audio chip is compatible whereas the g7`s is not , although it will apparently work with latest VoodooHDA. I know its irrelevant for you due to your external interface but for others it will make a different when choosing which type to go for. The g5 is also a bit cheaper.

Guys, I have just built a system using the GA-Z270X Gaming 7 - i7-7700K combination and everything is working great!!

I also experienced some USB issues at first but once I properly installed the latest USBInjectAll.kext and XHCI-200-series-injector.kext in /EFI/CLOVER/kexts/Other that problem was resolved and USB keyboard and mouse are working smooth as silk on any port.

For more details on this step see the jktaurus8's guide below and scroll down past the Post Installation section to the USB section and follow the steps there:

As for audio using the onboard Creative Sound Core 3d simply install the latest VoodoHDA drivers which are at version 2.8.8 as of today and all audio is working great! I just played some Coldplay on the new system to test it out.

All I have left to do is configure iMessage.

Good Luck!

I installed the latest drivers from link given... but alas it does NOT fix my audio.
I DO see that the Audio output options now show Front/Rear headphone port, Line out, SPDIF and HDMI audio.

I tried the front/rear headphone port and there was not audio. Also tried HDMI out... and no audio either.

Not sure what else to do.
I'm new to Hackintosh... so its a learning curve.
