Hello everyone!

I've just finished installing El Capitan on my CustoMac with success, I have only one problem left to solve, and that's my sound card, it is a Sound Blaster and it isn't compatible with any Mac so I think I will have to buy an external sound card.

Anyway, the OS is up and running and it is fast, I had some trouble with booting, but after 5 minutes I've found a solution, the boot order wasn't set up correctly in my Bios settings.



I would like to thank the author and the creators of this site, the helpful members, and of course, the creators of Clover by making an awesome boot loader which made this install possible.

If anyone curious, I've followed tonymacx86's install guide.

How about your USB2 and USB3 ports... Are they all functioning correctly? Are the USB3 ports correctly supporting USB3 devices at the right speed?

If so, could you document how you set everything up?

Hi Macboy123,
Are you using iMac late 2013 SMBIOS? Almost the same hardware. I followed tony's guide, successfully installed el Capitan but KP on booting after installing the Post installation package. Do i need to copy the kexts from the USB installer to EFI on the HDD? I'm clover noob.

I am using the iMac15,1 SMBIOS, but that's not causing your KP, 14,2 is fine as well for your hardware.

What is your exact KP message or what causes it?

You need to copy the kext files to EFI System Partition of your SSD/HDD, /EFI/CLOVER/kexts/10.11 or Other. (leaving everything except of Other folder away, eg 10.10.,10.11, ......)

Normally, your kexts are injected by Clover, if not present in S/L/E folder.
But of course you can also copy your FakeSMC.kext and Qualcomm E2200 network kext into your S/L/E folder, as done before.

As Z97X-Gaming 3 and 5 don't differ much, i think after 10.11.1 your USB3 issues should be solved OOTB.

I have a very similar setup, but I cant get to the installation window of el capitan. No matter what I try, the Error is always the same. I'd really appreciate it if someone could take a look. I'm quiet lost..
