Are you running with 4 DIMMs and the F8K BIOS and no longer have any freezes (assuming you're running the Chimera boot loader)? If so how long?

Using 4x4GB sticks of Corsair Vengeance (blue color). I am running since 12/22/2013 on F8k. Using Chimera.

Everything works including sleep/wake, Apple bluetooth. Probably the most stable hack I ever had at this point.

Great news @custom-mac. I'll give F8k a try.

Hi captain,

I posted a reply in your thread. It's not a solution but might guide you the way :)

Keep me posted!

When using iMac system profile you may experience a small audio pops due to audio power management enabled. I found this post that takes care of it in a very simple and elegant way:http://www.tonymacx86.com/audio/91572-quick-fix-hack-eliminate-sound-popping.html#post562302

Or:
LineIn app described here: http://www.tonymacx86.com/audio/96369-audio-popping-any-solutions.html#post591629
You only need to run it once and select "silent input" from input menu, leave other defaults and click Pass Through button. The good thing it stays like this after you quit app. You need to activate it after reboot (it seems). Although I still can hear faint pops.

I prefer the "cron" as it "shoot and forget" type of solution and fixes audio completely - no any pops, period.

As an alternative I am using cron method with following command:
Code:
* * * * * /usr/bin/afplay /Library/Sounds/silence.aiff

You can find silence.aiff (285ms of silence) here:http://www.evl.uic.edu/alan/DOCUMENTATION/HTML/music.html
Just place it somewhere on your drive or use:
sudo mkdir /Library/Sounds
sudo cp /Downloads/silence.aiff /Library/Sounds

"afplay" uses minimum resource (same when system sound is played by OS) vs. speech-synth approach with "say" (like using sledge hammer over finish nail).

Great news @custom-mac. I'll give F8k a try.

For those who were wondering how I made out with the BIOS update to F8k for my GA-Z87X-UD3H to resolve the random freezes with 4 DIMMs, here is the good news:

4 days and no freezes with 4 DIMMs installed :headbang: All of the good things that @custom-mac mentions above.

Not sure why F8 is not released by Gigabyte yet as I don't see any ill effects, but if you are using 4 DIMMs and experiencing the random freezing I was, I suggest you update to BIOS to F8k. Here's the link if you want to give it a go:

Just made my Hack yesterday and had some freezing used the F8 beta bios and all is good 4 sticks 16 gigs 1600 glad I didn't suffer long with the freezing :) I do have a complaint with this build though, everything works !!! Kinda boring no research to do to get it right :) Who knew that one day building a Hackintosh would be so easy and boring :)

Anyone having issues where airplay mirroring gets stuck? The computer doesn't freeze but the image on the HDTV does. Could be my network (I'm on wifi and will be buying power line ethernet adapter soon) but thought I would ask here in the off chance it happened to anyone else.

Well I don't use airplay, but using mac my wifi is slow in comparison to windows. Maybe it's not fast enough for your airplay transmission. Why don't you check your connection speed for a start?

Has anybody with this build or an similar one updated to 10.9.1?
Any issues with the update?
