Parts & Details

Case:
Thermaltake V200 Tempered Glass RGB Edition Mid Tower
Motherboard: Gigabyte Z590 Aorus Elite AX rev 1.0
CPU: Intel Core i7-10700K (10th Gen, UHD 630)
RAM: 2x16 GB - G.Skill TridentZ RGB Series - 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM 3200 PC4-25600
Water Cooling: Cooler Master MasterLiquid ML240 Mirror - ARGB Close-Loop AIO Liquid Cooler
Power Supply: EVGA 700W BR
Graphics Card: MSI RX 580 8GB
Hard Disk: TeamGroup 1TB SSD - SPCC Solid State Disk (reused from an old build, already running Big Sur)
Chipset: Intel Series 500 - SATA AHCI Controller
Wi-Fi: Intel Wi-Fi 6 AX201 160 MHz
Ethernet: Realtek RTL8125 Gaming 2.6 GbE Family Controller
Audio: Realtek ALC1220-VB - Intel HD Audio Controller
Audio: Intel Kaby Lake HDMI - Intel HD Audio Controller
Audio: ATI Radeon HDMI - High Definition Audio Controller

Process

Followed the Dortania Guide to build the OpenCore (latest version) EFI in a Flash Drive.
Replaced the contents of the old EFI in the SSD drive with the new one.
Boot.

What works

1. On Board Audio (ALC1220-VB)
2. Intel Wi-Fi

3. Intel Bluetooth
1617699989939.png

4. Ethernet
1617700028158.png

5. Graphics (including HDMI Audio)
1617700070089.png

6. Graphics Hardware Acceleration
1617699885936.png

7. iMessage
8. Facetime

What doesn't work

1. AirDrop, likely due to the Bluetooth/Wi-Fi card being Intel. The developer of the OpenIntelWireless kext says that, as of now, Continuity is very limited.

Additional notes

1. Ethernet

The card was recognized properly and the kext was loaded. However, my router/switch was not capable of negotiating the 2.5 Gbps speeds and it was causing it to not connect and tell me that the cable was not plugged.

This was solved by manually specifying the connection to be 1000 BaseT.

2. Intel UHD 630 Graphics Card

The Intel Graphics card is configured to run as an empty framebuffer. It cannot drive a display. It is used exclusively for processing. The Monitors are being driven by the MSI RX 580.

3. BIOS Settings

I basically did a factory defaults and then enabled:

1. Gaming Profile
2. SATA drives HOT Pluggable
3. Chose OS as Windows 10 with UEFI (WHQLI or something like that)
4. Enable Internal Graphics card
5. Start with PCI Graphics card

---------
Reference: OhChang's Build
I want to thank OhChang for sharing his EFI. It helped solved the USB ports not being responsive by adding 2 SSDT files.

---------

IMPORTANT:

Remember to generate your own SMBIOS and to change the following values in the OpenCore config.plist.

1. MLB
2. ROM
3. SystemSerialNumber
4. SystemUUID

I chose iMac20,1 as it has the same processor: i7-10700K. iMac20,2 have the i9 version.

Hi there,

Great build! As for your ALC1220VB issue, the fix is quite easy. Update your system with the latest AppleALC.kext, Lilu.kext, Whatevergreen.kext in EFI/OC/Kexts and using Opencore Configurator, make sure that under NVRAM on the left, last UUID selection - in your boot-args field you have alcid=7 added as a value. Save and reboot and your sound card should come up. If it doesn't try another value like alcid=11 or refer to the Dortania Realtek ALC sound card guide.

Hi Middleman,

Thanks for the feedback.

I fixed it.

The issue was that I didn't have the -lilubeta flag in the boot options. It worked with alcid=1.

I have updated the attached EFI. Now everything is running perfectly, with the exception of AirDrop but it is expected per the developer's FAQ.

For those interested, here's my FULL BIOS configuration with explanations as to why I chose what I have.

00.png

1. Extreme Memory Profile - Apparently causes issues, so, I made sure to turn it off for safety.
2. CSM Support - Read it should be disabled, so, it is.
3. Secure Boot Mode - Read that it should be disabled but there was no disable option, so, I left it at the default.
4. VT-d - I run Virtual Machines in Fusion and VirtualBox so I enabled this. People reported issues with it but I have none.
5. SATA Controller(s) - Make sure it is enabled.

01.png

1. CPU Upgrade - People said that previous BIOS versions caused issues but it worked perfect for me with the Gaming profile.
2. Extreme Memory Profile - Mentioned above

02.png

1. Once again, confirming that X.M.P. is disabled.

03.png

1. I want the computer to turn back on if power goes out.

04.png

1. Make sure that iGPU is enabled
2. Make sure it has at least 64MB of Dedicated Video Memory
3. Left the Total Dedicated Video Memory at the default of 256

05.png

1. If you boot into Windows, you should leave this enabled so that the drivers are installed with their new fancy app.

06.png

1. XHCI Hand-off should be enabled
2. USB Mass Storage Device Support also enabled

07.png

1. Nothing here

1. Make sure that CFG Lock is disabled
2. I set up my Flash Drive to be the first boot drive as I was testing the EFI build with it.
3. Select Windows 10 with UEFI for the features. Make sure you install a UEFI version of Windows 10 if you do dual boot.
4. Make sure CSM Support is disabled

Hope it helps!

hey

PREngineer

, thank you very much for sharing your EFI, i´ve been struggling with my z590 ud FOR DAYS! Your SSDT-Z590-USB-FIX.aml save my day. Did you know where did you take it? or did you create it?
thank you very much again.

Nice build.

Looks like the Gigabyte Z590 Aorus Elite is similar to the Gigabyte Z590 Vision G.

That is why you were able to use the EFI from OhChang's build.

Nice to see the community helping each other.

I am also getting the Gigabyte Z590 Vision G and will be using it with my Intel i9 10900K CPU, 64GB Ram, Broadcom BT/wifi card and Asus ROG Strix LC Radeon RX 6800XT. I will take support from OhChang's guide to setup my MacOS.

Will also compare with your EFI setup as well. Thanks.

Thanks a lot. I got the same parts for my "Final" hackintosh.
I had to upgrade few kexts - namely the Intel's Wifi and BT (got a boot loop on the BT)
Also upgraded VirtualSMC and I had to install a GT 710 card so I could make it to the installer.
The rest was a breeze

Did you manage to make use of the motherboard's Display Port?

Did you tried to drive display using iGPU, bcz i dont want to use graphics Card.
plz reply.
