I have recently put together a modest build using the above components.

Excellent build! :)

Pretty impressive hardware specs - and running OS X it will fly.

Great Lian-Li case and a good looking alternative to a genuine Mac Pro.

I haven't come across that slot drive adaptor before. Is it designed to take a laptop DVD drive? Would be interested to learn who makes it?

:)

Cheers :D UtterDisbelief

I have left the i5 2500k at stock speeds for now ... as I am not looking at chasing frame rates. It certainly has everything I require for running Adobe Creative Suite. Yep the slot drive bay is designed for a laptop drive ... I am kind of holding out for a Blu Ray drive ideally and I just hope that OS X support for Blu Ray improves. The slot drive bay is obtainable in the UK from Kustom PCs and it is manufactured by Silverstone (Model: FP58s) http://www.kustompcs.co.uk/acatalog/info_38008.html They were the first in the UK to ship the silver version after I ordered it from them ... although others such as http://www.Scan.co.uk now stock it I believe.

We just discovered that you can burn BR data disks natively in Lion. You'll still need a 3rd part app for burning BR HD (media) disks. Toast has a VG reputation as a BR burner.

I want one of those Lian Li cases so bad but they are so expensive.

I envy you with so much jelly fiber! ;)
