Hi there,
When trying to upgrade from Mavericks to Catalina, (using this guide https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/...alina-on-any-supported-intel-based-pc.285366/) … I seem to be stuck on Step 2 > Part 11 (At Select OS Installation screen choose Catalina and click Continue).

Problem; The UniBeast setup process is telling me that my Catalina installer is incomplete and that I should delete all copies of it and download it again. So, I have done this... only to see the same warning at Step 2 > Part 11... see image attached.

I have an early 2014 Hackintosh:

CPU: Intel Core i7-4770K (Haswell) [includes HeatSink, etc]
Mobo: Gigabyte GA-Z87X-UD3H (Socket 1150)
OS: 10.9.5 Mavericks (I have legit copy of Mountain Lion which I used for this / my first hackintosh)
Current loader / tools: Uni beast / Multibeast

Q: Is my Hackintosh too old for Catalina? – and if so, which OS do you think I'll have better luck with?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you for reading

I have already visited this page. On the instructions "Run the 19MB stub installer (/Applications/Install macOS High Sierra)."
... I opened the installer and then clicked Continue (->), but then nothing happens.

I assumed that as this was a High Sierra guide, this may have prevented this for working for Catalina. I admit that I have no idea how different the installation processes (or installers) are between the different OS version.

Last night I tried again, but this time it presented me with another screen (accept terms of service) after just under an hour.

The installer asked me to select a drive to install Catalina onto, so I selected my main HD1. (I used a Catalina installer in HD2).

After about 10 mins it seemed to have created the "macOS Install Data" folder... but not in the root of my HD1, in my HD2 instead (also an internal HHD).

I moved the "macOS Install Data" to my HD1.

My Catalina installer was saved on my HD2 so I am wondering if this has caused this to happen, despite me selecting my main HD (HD1).

I have waited for this prompt "When it has finished downloading all it needs, the installer screen will then ask you to restart the Mac" from the thread you suggested (https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/...cted-mac-os-x-installer-is-incomplete.249330/) ... but despite waiting over 2 hours since the "macOS Install Data" folder was saved onto my HD2, I didn't receive a prompt.

When I clicked the -> (install) button on the Catalina installer (the only other button being <- Back) it just asked me if I wanted to Continue installing or Quit... so I just selected Continue, despite waiting several hours since I started this process - I guess it just takes a while. I really don't mind waiting, I just wish I could have an indication as to whether or not the process was actually working.

This morning I have tried again. It must have made some hidden progress because after trying for another 2 hours, the installer (I am guessing) just restarted the computer.

I know the thread (https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/...cted-mac-os-x-installer-is-incomplete.249330/) mentions that I should not allow this to happen when I see the prompt asking me "When it has finished downloading all it needs, the installer screen will then ask you to restart the Mac – but don’t!" but I never saw a prompt before it restarted.

Unfortunately my Catalina installer is still 19 MB, so I assume that it hasn't worked.

... Anyway, I will keep trying ...

Thanks @Bustycat
I used Terminal for the process in my last post:

sudo -s
[enter my password]
mkdir /Applications/Install\ macOS\ Catalina.app/Contents/SharedSupport
cd /macOS\ Install\ Data
find . -mount | cpio -pvdm /Applications/Install\ macOS\ Catalina.app/Contents/SharedSupport

... as I've already mentioned, this process just seemed to run out of gas / no resolution.

I have now tried to use Terminal as suggested by your link:

softwareupdate --fetch-full-installer

... on the second attempt in Terminal, this seems to have started working. It's making a fresh installer in Applications folder. It's taking a while, the size of the installer has now increased to over 23 GB. The icon also has a white no smoking sign over it, for apps that can't be installed... I assume this is caused by the installer not being completely downloaded yet.

... I will post again when it's finished, hopefully I won't run out of space on my 125GB HD.

How about using softwareupdate --fetch-full-installer --full-installer-version 10.15.3 this time??

Or use DosDude1’s Catalina Patcher to download.

The installer was over 25 GB but has now shrunk down to 2 GB. WTF?

What's the deal with 10.15.3? ... is this a smaller file? I see it's the latest version of Cat.

Well a full installer of Catalina should be about 8 GB.

Thanks. Why do you think mine went over 25 Gb?

(it was growing so big it was freaking me out, I ended up transferring files over to my HD2 just to make sure there was space)

Also, if I download 10.15.3, will I be able to open it when it's done? I don't want the white no smoking icon etc.
My current OS is Mavericks
