Make sure your KB & mouse is connected to the USB ports in the stack with the PS/2 port.

Re: Clover. I'm still using r3766 which MultiBeast installed. It works, so I didn't fix what wasn't broken.

@Stork
So many thanks for this guide. I had almost no issues with this install and the ones I had were easily solved with a little searching. I love this machine.

My question is what sys defs have you tried? I tried a couple (via MB) before the Sierra update and bricked myself each time, so now I'm a little gun shy.

I don't experiment too much unless I have to. (If it ain't broke, don't fix it.) I'm using iMac14,2 Sys Def at the current time and have not found the need to change to another. That being said, now that MultiBeast has the Mac Pro 5,1 option that "Add Clover AppleTyMCEDriver patch to Customize -> System Definitions -> Mac Pro -> Mac Pro 5,1", I may try this SysDef after 10.12.3 is released.

I got tired of waiting for the Nvidia Pascal drivers, and picked up an EVGA GeForce GTX 980 4GB SC GAMING ACX 2.0 graphics card for the price of the GTX 1060 3GB cards. (I lucked out to get it for a good price.) Consequently, I've updated the Post #1's Benchmark section.

Wow, it must have been one heck of a deal, best price I can find is about $300 more than I paid for my my 6GB EVGA GTX1060!

290X / Rx480 should be smarters option.
The only problem is the bug in OS X & macOS for AMD cards not waking from sleep. (See Graphics forum section for more information.)

Hi Stork, hi all,

I need your help reg. my Asus Maximus VIII Hero sleep issue. I wrote a post in the "General Help" forum (wrong place?), but no answer so far and I´m really desperate. You are talking about random wakes etc., mine isn´t going to sleep at all.
I followed your really good step by step installation (thx a lot for that), because it looks understandable to me. That' s why I was choosing your build as a benchmark/copy for my build.

My System:
El Capitan (10.11.6 iMac 14.2) was running well on my AHCI SSD (M.2).
Asus Maximus VIII Hero Bios update 2202
NVIDIA GTX 970 webdriver 004
WI-FI + Bluetooth 4.0 BCM94360CD
StarTech FireWire Card

The sleep/wake function doesn´t work at all on my end and I don´t know what I have doing wrong or missed out.
It didn´t work before or after the Security update (2016 002). When I go manually into sleep, the screen goes black, the front power light starts blinking for a second and then the fans starts spinning again. The front light is back to shine but the screen stays black. When my screen (Apple LED Display DP) goes black after 15min (preference energy save setting), the keyboard is responsible and the password screen pops up. Some users report that the StarTech FW card could make problems with the sleep/wake. Put it out...tested... same thing..no clue.

I tried a lot of the forum suggestions except the darkwake thing, but no luck at all. Any help is really appreciated, because I'm kind of desperate.

Best
Michael
