HI, Just completed by Yosemite 10.10.2 build.

Knowing that there would be a challenge with the 270x card I build the system with my old card, a HD6870, and now I am on the first attempts with the R9 270x. I used Multibeast 7.2 and have Chimera installed.
I then moved the bootloader to the EFI partition as recommended for this cards.

SO when I boot I get a kernel panic. See image attached.

I have read some threads on here about this card and I have played with the Chimera settings as a result but I get no further.
I can only fully boot in safe mode.

Is it a matter of further experimental setting changes in Chimera?
Or do I need to embrace Clover to go further?

In Chameleon Wizard make sure you select kext-dev-mode=1.

This guide might help too : http://www.tonymacx86.com/general-help/115818-install-bootloader-extra-efi-partition.html

Clover may well be beneficial.

Good Luck

I've already moved the bootloader to the EFI partition.

I enabled the kext-dev-mode=1 but I think it was enabled already, at least the previous screenshot of the kernel panic shows it as such.

Any other ideas ?

The part from the screenshot that starts "Kernel extensions in backtrace:" .... is that a clue to what caused the Panic?

thanks.

Sorted.

The VoodooHDA kext (as detailed on the Panic screenshot) was the problem. While this kext (a custom version of 2.7.3 writtten by marcoz available from another hackintosh site, to fix a known noise issue for the ALC 887/888 codec) worked fine on the at build time with the HD6870 it was not working with the new card.

Changed audio driver to vanilla VoodooHDA 2.8.4 as used in MultiBeast 7.2

All good.
