Hello all, complete noob here. I have no idea what I'm doing at all when it comes to computers, but my friend does and I am getting him to build me another hackintosh (my current one is old and dying).
My current one has lots of problems (can't put the computer to sleep, certain videos and images won't work/load, etc) but it's useable. I want to build a rig that can dual boot (windows for gaming, osx for everything else). I was thinking of just using my current GPU for osx and getting a GTX 1070 for the gaming.
However I would ultimately like to use the 1070 for both. I read through a lot of this thread + others and I know we're waiting on drivers. My question is, should I buy the 1070 and hope Nvidia release drivers soon, or just settle for the 970? I realize the question+answer right above mine is asking the same thing, but the only added factor for me is timing. I don't know how much longer my current GPU is going to hold on for as new problems keep sprouting up all the time.
TL;DR do I get a 1070 for windows and use my current, shitty GPU until the drivers are available or do I just play it safe and get a 970?
