Hi all, short question and probably a quick answer here. I've decided to temporarily put my Hackintosh partition into cold storage and go full Windows on my desktop, troubleshooting was taking up too much time =(. I would, however, like to save it as-is for a later date. I already have it backed up in Time Machine, but I want to use the entire hard drive in my desktop, thus requiring me to reformat it.

My question is this: would saving the Time Machine backup enable me to go back and do a system restore on a new drive? i.e. would I be able to pick up right where I left off? I have a feeling it might be more complicated than that, but here's hoping it's simple!

Thanks!

Time Machine might restrict you in this regard. By that I mean, you might have to reinstall to the new drive, then migrate from the Time Machine backup. There is other software available that will allow you to clone your boot drive, making a usable copy. Carbon Copy Cloner is made for that, but it isn't free.
