Re: SAMSUNG SERIES 7 SLATE/TABLET ::IN PROGRESS:: 10.7.2

I'm not sure if i understand your current position but,
this is what i'm doing to learn how to code. you need to start with the basics and learning html and css, is currently a nice way to learn coding basics in general, for me at least. here's the free link for a series of video tutorials for just that purpose
http://learncss.tutsplus.com/

for porting linux drivers, i think that requires hex editing to make the drivers compatible with any general system of a different OS and make it independent of any other drivers . i'm speaking with little knowledge of the subject and i'm not an everyday pro who does this for a living(just getting that out there)

and i found that mac uses a different driver model than other unix OSes
http://developer.apple.com/library/mac/ ... ction.html

you will need to convert the normal unix model from linux to Mac's IO kit model

here's a place where i learned some basic dsdt patching
http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index. ... wforum=228

user, mald0n at insanelymac is a very knowledgeable dsdt patcher. his primary language i think is Portuguese (brazilian flag on his site) his english is not too strong.

good luck and keep pushing through!

Re: SAMSUNG SERIES 7 SLATE/TABLET ::IN PROGRESS:: 10.7.2

I want to put a bump in for this. I'd like to order this slate and help however I can - but don't necessarily have any skills other than general computer savviness, some software developer friends/employees, and stupid levels of stubborness.

How do we get Mald0n or tonymac to give us some knowledge/direction? I feel like a slate hackintosh would be amazingly powerful for touch and stylus input to processor intensive design (adobe suite) and compositing (shake, after effects) type programs. Not sure I see myself doing my design on a PC either so...

Who can help us?

Re: SAMSUNG SERIES 7 SLATE/TABLET ::IN PROGRESS:: 10.7.2

Ok- there's not much I can do directly because I don't have the hardware- I'm sure i could figure out some of the minor issues- but the price of these things is just too high. I'm still monitoring this thread- but there aren't that many people with the product- that's why we're all curious as to your progress.

Don't give up! And keep posting your videos- any clues I can glean from viewing your interactions with this tablet could help. Also- extract DSDTs and IOregistry dumps and post them here.

Re: SAMSUNG SERIES 7 SLATE/TABLET ::IN PROGRESS:: 10.7.2

Thanks everyone for the support.

Tonymac, I had asked this question before but no one answered so I should ask again.

When I boot 10.7 -f the screen comes on. So what does that exactly mean?

I think if I get a good understanding of why with ignorning the cace we see display and without we get only hdmi?

But I guess the screen issue witch is the main thing that makes this tablet on osx a bit irrotating. If we could get a bit more guidense to what too look for that might be causing the issue.

We would get somewhere.
Thanks again guys.

Re: SAMSUNG SERIES 7 SLATE/TABLET ::IN PROGRESS:: 10.7.2

I have a suggestion.... How about trying a Touchscreen Monitor connected to a Working System. The reason why I suggesting this is to be able to try to get the touchscreen working properly on a system without worrying about any other devices. I have ( and I am sure others) have used this troubleshooting in the past. Perhaps something like http://www.newegg.com/Store/SubCategory ... tegory=514 , or http://www.newegg.com/Store/SubCategory ... n-Monitors

I would suggest to Model that will work with your finger and connect it to a HDMI port on a Motherboard with a Intel HD3000 Graphics card and similar CPU and Chipset to the Slate if possible. Even something like the MiniCustomac that Tony Has Posted in the Past. Perhaps Newegg would donate one for the cause?

I would love to help more, but i dont have the budget to buy any new hardware.

Re: SAMSUNG SERIES 7 SLATE/TABLET ::IN PROGRESS:: 10.7.2

Hi guys,

Hope you are still working on this one :) I follow this tread almost since the begining and what you are doing is very interresting. I wonder if I should but this tablet when it comes available here but still not sure and I must admit that if you succeed in having a full Mac OSx working on this I would definitly get one.

From what I understand you still have to fix that touchscreen and wifi is not working yet.

Also, I remember seen someone saying that the device get really hot when running OSx... just wonder if you already hear about cpu throttling on this device ? You might want to read this : http://forum.tabletpcreview.com/samsung ... d-176.html

Maybe this is real and not working properly on osx.

Ok just wanted to let you know, hope you'll get this working anyway !

I'll keep reading your posts.

Thanks
