My new hackintosh 10.8.5 build is working, however I'm getting random freezes.

Specs:
Z87MX-DH3 (bios version f2)
3.4 i7 4700 (for some reason the bios reports the CPU frequency as running at 3.69, as does 'About this Mac'. Everything is set to auto in bios)
32gb 1600 ram
OCZ Agility III SSD
3x1tb Raid 0
4gb Nvidia GT 640
IOGear Bluetooth 4.0 Adapter

I had originally suspected a firewire 800 card, as it was freezing during file transfers from a firewire drive, however after pulling the card out I'm still getting freezes. I've read on another forum related to this mobo that people were having issues using all 4 ram slots. Could the CPU speed being reported incorrect be a factor?

Any thoughts? Thanks for any help!

I've been having random freezes on my machine also, different board but same scenario. I thought it was the ram so I took 2 sticks out and still encounter freezes. I thought it might have been the SSD so I updated the firmware but still a no go. I read that it might be the GPUSensor.kext so I deleted all the FakeSMC sensors and hwmonitor and just installed FakeSMC to no avail. I'm not sure what the issue is. I might try to install it on just a non SSD and see if that has any effect.

I'll try to update this if I end up finding a fix.

I thought ram too, I removed a stick and so far so good. It's been running for about 3 hours without any hangs. My problem is likely related to non matching pairs of ram.

I purchased this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA0ST08P6221
Had this laying around: http://www.micron.com/parts/modules...1g6?pc={1743ACB0-199F-4A10-9E7C-5162BAE130AF}

They're both DDR3 1600 8gb chips...never really thought too much about it. Just realized the Avexir ram is CAS 10 frequency of 10-10-10-24, the Micron stuff is CAS 11. I'm going to play around in the bios and see if I can get them to place nice together.

I think there are issues with the current run of Gigabyte z87 and z77 motherboards. I had the same problem with a (two) GA-z77-ds3h, replaced it with an ASRock and have been stable since.

Heads up for people with this system- we may be getting a UEFI update soon from F5.

I don't recommend flashing unless you're having issues, but I've tried the following UEFI mod with success.
http://forums.tweaktown.com/gigabyte/48085-gigabyte-modified-bios.html

It patches/updates the following:

GA-Z87MX-D3H BIOS F5 mod
Modified with :

  • Intel RAID for SATA 12.6.0.1867 to 12.7.0.1936
  • Intel EFI SataDriver 12.6.0.1867 to 12.7.0.1936
  • Intel Boot Agent GE 1.5.04 to 1.5.43
  • Intel PCI Accelerated SVGA BIOS 2171 to 2177
  • Intel GOPdriver 5.0.1032 to 5.0.1035
  • Intel EFI VBIOS 1215 to 6767
  • Intel Haswell Microcode (06C3) 09 to 16
  • ME firmware 9.0.3.1347 to 9.0.21.1462
  • Modified splash logo

this has solved my freezing issues.
