Just cloned my El Capitan system over to my M.2 Samsung 500GB SSD PCIE card and got these results. Pretty impressive to be running these speeds without having to install OSX on a RAM chip:

After closing any running programs I get about 1500 write avg and 1900 read.M2-Speed Test.jpg

From userbenchmark

The 250GB Samsung 850 Evo has a similar architecture to its older, and hugely successful 840 sibling. Both drives utilize TLC NAND and both sport a high speed Turbowrite cache (TWC) which buffers up to 3GB of writes. The TWC enables high burst write speeds but when the cache exhausts speeds drop to 300 MB/s. Comparing the 850 and 840 Evos shows that effective speed, has improved by 11% and the warranty has been extended from three to five years but prices are also up by 11%. The 250GB 850 Evo does put in superb benchmarks (second only to the 850 Pro) but these are only valid within the TWC. Users looking for more consistent performance should look elsewhere. At current price levels the 850 Evo struggles to compete with the value leaders

Thank you, that is really informative.

So the 250GB model can write up to ~500MB/s if the data size is less than 3GB but drops to ~300MB/s if it's over 3GB?

IIRC the default test size is 5GB in Blackmagic Disk Speed Test, which explains the lower write speeds.

Yes, looks awesome! Mine M.2x4 gives 1100MB/s and I realized it is already fast enough for all applications I am using, as for the data - my whole user profile been moved on the 1TB RAID0 of the regular HDD's for high data availability and the working volume for video editing is on the 1TB RAID1 250GBx4 10K RPM drives, which is pretty fast. Using 2TB of SSD storage would be too expensive...
