You transplanted a drive with macOS already installed on it and it would just reboot?
Yea, I used CCC and made a back up. It did get further into the boot up than installing from USB directly.
I've had a bit of a search and seems people cant boot/install macOS with Optane installed as its not supported by macOS. It would make sense as its the only thing i've changed over three Z370 boards, and the two I've attempted to install macOS with Optane installed wouldn't go to the Apple logo at all if I hadn't turned off Optane in BIOS. I thought that would be enough.
On the 1st Z370 board I had didn't have any issue at all. It was ITX, and I wanted to install a Firewire card (hopefully that isn't the issue but I doubt it).
So, I'm in the process of disabling it and removing it completely; hopefully that will work. Its a bummer because it works well with my mechanical drive. But, I'd rather have macOS as I've got proprietary Apple hardware id like to use.
UPDATE: bootable straight into MacOS once Optane was uninstalled.
